Rurouni Kenshin Cameo

... kinda like the Obama-thing in Air Gear, but much cooler. 😀
For those who aren't following 1/2 Prince right now, Kenshin makes an appearance as the "demon lord" who has a "lover" waiting for him. As much as I'd like to see Kaoru drawn 1/2 Prince style, I get the feeling the "lover" is actually Tomoe.
Anyway, I digress since I just wanted to express my joy and shock after reading the chapter. 🤣
So I was wondering with this whole issue, is this kind of copyright thing legal or okay?

I read that part, I was a little bit down about the hairband part...cause I finished Kenshin and I was sad at that part when Tomoe says that she'll wait for him and I was kinda mad at Prince for taking the hairband by cheating Kenshin with words that he/she randomly guessed. I'm also mad at Wen and Jing for cheating Prince and getting the hairband for themselves even though Prince trusted them alot cause he/she knows them and them in turn should trust Prince after all he was with them for quite alot of days, help leveled them even though they really don't know him/her....
well in prince part he/she is very lucky that the quest turn out to be not need to kill to get the item and at first I'm doubting myself saying kenshin will appear in this manga but he does appear as demon lord.
don't know more about much legality of kenshin appearing here, it does need a some kind of permission (don't know the proper term to use) for using kenshin in other manga.
kenshin will save prince after he/she falls in the river giving him a CPR there goes his/her second kiss coming from kenshin npc, prince will forgive wen and jing.

i read someone else's post that in the novel version it was more apparent and prince even commented about it in his head. prince also said "kaoru is waiting for you".
i dont know if this is true or not so i'd like a confirmation of this

It shocked me when I saw one of the sketches of Kenshin, but sorta expected him to appear in the manhua, but not that soon.
I can say, I prefer having Kenshin appear as a guest than Obama. Obama is just too creepy.
I suppose you do need permission to use someone else's character, but then again the manhuaga is only using the character designs from Rurouni Kenshin and slightly modifying it, because
As you can see, "The Demon Lord" doesn't exactly have a X scar on his cheek, it's just a slash, plus take in mind that the hair style is a bit different, too.
If it's just one character, I suppose it won't make things troublesome but if more characters are being modified without permission then things might get serious and out of hand.
Anyways, I think it was a great twist for the story that
Wen and Jing turned into backstabbers. It made me hate them more, though. XD

About being able to use Kenshin as a character in the manhua, it's OK as long as there is no copyright/trademark infringement.
So if someone owned anything and everything related to Rurouni Kenshin, then the creators of Half Prince would have to get written, legal permission in order to use him or anything directly related to him--in other words, his image, parts of the plot of his manga, etc.
However, artists and writers frequently make reference to other people's creations in their works, and do so in a way that viewers will all recognize the thing that they are referring to, but without copying that thing exactly. This is known as homage, and is totally OK to do without getting written permission since the artist isn't copying exactly, and still making it known what their source material was. That fits the case here since we all know who the character is based off of, but the Demon Lord's background story is different than Rurouni Kenshin's, from what I can remember. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.)
Another example of homage, also from Half Prince, is that Lolidragon can execute one of Chun Li's moves (they actually refer to Chun Li when she does it). As far as I know, Capcom has yet to sue for trademark infringement. 🙂
It's when an artist doesn't make it obvious that he/she is making reference to someone else's work that we run into problems as that makes it seem as though the artist is passing someone else's ideas off as his/her own.

I think the Kenshin and Loli Dragon thing was intially just little play round from the author, since it was her first author and it was posted online as an online novel intially, she didn't really think about copyright issue at that time I guess.
However, it would become a problem when they start to publish her work as manga and hard copy novel though, as it is a commercial activity. They seems to have no problems with the novel hard copy version, so I bet it should be ok with the manga, I guess.
when i saw him i was like 😲
but i;m not going to hate 1/2 ouji just because of that.and i think kenshin plays a good role in here. the demon lord <--woah.

Yeah. There are a lot of series that have been translated into Chinese. Plus, I think I heard somewhere that plagarism is really bad in China and that some Chinese studio tried to claim Gundam as its own product. Besides, Kenshin is such a famous series that I wouldn't be surprised that a lot of people know of it.
Oh, and the Demon Lord does look like Rurouni Kenshin when he had his hair tied up. I really hope Prince fulfills that mission and gets back to the central continent. Then Gui, Wicked, and the two girls can get jealous.

The author made many references to Rurouni Kenshin in the novels, as well as Street Fighter and KoF. The whole funny thing about Prince is that she tried to use techniques from fighting games and anime into the MMO, instead of sticking with the ol' hack n' slash formula of MMORPGs. And it turns out, it went better than expected.
Stop being retarded if you have no idea what you are talking about and just not post.
