Why do you hide your manga list and why?

I hide my list because I don't want others to know what I am reading. Why you ask? Because I don't like others knowing...
Same here. Most of the manga on my list are shoujo, anyway. For shounen, I'd rather watch the anime than read it.
And I don't hide my gender. It's not like anyone's going to know my identity by knowing my gender. My birthday, I don't hide either. Besides, the b-day I put here is fake. 😛 so my age here is fake, too. 😀

Personally I don't have a problem about others knowing, but I hide my Wish List. It's because I throw almost every stupid manga on it, just to try them out and as I don't even like most of the stuff on it in the end, it only fakes the "likes(from public lists only)" on the profile 🤣
There's nothing to see here. Proceed with what you were doing or throw rainbows at random pedestrians.

I see no point making it public for myself. To me I just use the list feature to keep track of mangas I'm reading or that looking interesting enough that I might choose to read them in the future.

My lists are hidden cause they're a mess. 🤢
An instant or an eternity. Both are the same, in the passing of an instant lies the beauty of eternity.

Hm... I don't have a manga list. ._____.

You are like the dense main character in a shoujo manga.

I actually have mine public because I'm so used to getting to them through my username page. I hardly ever click "My Lists". Odd habit.
Besides, I don't really care if people know what I'm reading. I dunno maybe someone's found something by looking through my lists if they see that I'm reading manga genres that they like too. I know I have through other users.

man, I was so confused when I read this! I though all lists were just automatically public I hardly ever check any of the user options- guess they are not, didn't even know they were "hidden" unless one label them as public. And, what would b the point of making them private? is not like anyone in the site can actually go to your house and mock u for the stuff you read

I may make my list public once I finish off some of the series on it. Making public a list of almost 400 manga would make it essentially useless to anyone who felt so motivated to even look at it.

Never understood that "privacy" thing....location...gender...age...
I mean WHO CARES?=| The person u are talking to might be(and i'd say the most of the time it's like that) on the other side of the planet...why do u care what she/he might get to know about u?=|
And especially about such useless pieces of information like gender or age....not to say about some manga list-_-
And about "family member finding the list" is just LOL....how in the world that could happen-_-
Though ofc this forum is not so much about talking,it's mostly about exchanging views about manga..so it's not that important...but it would help to find some friends with the same interests via linking that list to some ppl in the net

People have their reasons, but I do like to read people's lists. And sometimes I even discover new series through them. Mine's always open, 24/7. Nothin' to hide here mate.
Same here. I like looking through people's lists because I find it interesting to see what others are reading (call me nosy - I don't mind ^^) and I've found several enjoyable titles from the lists of people who have similar tastes to mine.
My age, gender and zodiac sign are all true. My lists are properly updated and public. The only non-public list is the one I have for unscanned stuff that look interesting or are related to series I'm already reading. That list has about 400 titles on it - most of which will never be scanned, and the majority of which I will not read even if they are scanned (covers can be pretty deceiving, after all). So that one list remains private...as for the rest - what you see is what I've got 😛

Hahah, funny that one of said people whose lists I have browsed should quote a three-year-old post of mine! Hope you don't mind! 😛

I really like the title of this topic.
I don't mind people knowing what I read. I just have a really weird system of manga lists - for example, I don't have one wish list, just many specific ones and probably nobody except for me could understand it. I thought of making only my complete and unfinished lists public, but this wouldn't make sense either.
But I like browsing through others' lists 🙂 I'm interested in what people read and found some interesting titles this way.

I took off my Wish List that I Don't want to read anymore lists, as it's not really needed for those that have similar tastes to mine.
