I apoligise if this has been done before, but I couldn't find it so, here it is:

We just had a poll on if you thought of doing a comic series, and I was wondering for those of you who draw, whether or not reading manga makes you feel particularly inspired to draw? Do some series, artists or genres do it better for you? Do you think you look at manga differently because you can draw?

And for those of you who don't draw, does reading manga make you want to learn?

I draw and certain manga make me really feel like drawing. I like to analyse manga, you know looking at the way they use panels, characters, plot, how and why you know what is happening. The reason I ask is because I just read about 15 chapters of Bleach (I put it off for ages because I was getting bored of the never ending minor-charcters -hat-I-didn't-really-care-about-battle) and by the end I felt really motivated to draw. I must admit I liked the art work more before, somewhere in the middle was best, but the action scenes are kinda cool.

On an off topic note: I want to draw a comic one day, but one thing that annoys me is onomatopoeia. I like japanese because it's letters are beautiful and fit well into the art work. I don't know if it is because I don't notice them because I can't read them or what, but they look really really good. You just can't do the same thing with english. Most of the time it looks so.... awkard. Does anyone feel different.

I certainly do, but it depends on the type of manga you're reading, and the manga artists who created them.

Also, it does help influence the drawing style in the process.

Yes, I've tried creating manga a couple times after reading really inspiring stories from manga....only to remember that I can't draw and that I really suck so then I throw everything on the ground and cry at my inability. So yes, I've tried a couple times but you could say I'm working on improving on my drawings, haha.

It does inspire me, although when I draw the drawing comes nothing to the image in my mind. XD

I like to draw anime characters from animes/manga that I like. But that's all. I won't even try to create my own manga. It's just too much work.

Yes!!!
I doodle a lot now in class and take a visual arts class because art is fun (maybe), I do it subconsciously and I feel good when I finish something really spectacular
The praise that I sometimes get also helps as it shows that I worked hard

I do read manga, sometimes I don't want to draw when I read manga. But I do DRAW when I look at artbooks. I do both fan arts and originals. These are my originals

When I see beautiful images, it does.

Here are a few I drew some years ago:
(lame scan quality though)
Although not all manga...

nekomimi

oh my goddess. I like her hair

Tohru Honda :3

...I call it sin

Here's a more recent one:
I failed

Mmmm...
Yeah, I know I suck. Shame my scanner sucks even more. 🤣
But I used to enjoy this a lot.
Now I don't have time though~
