i know it's random but
haven't you just ever thought that still the main objective of the game is to hit an animal??

Pinatas actually have deep roots in the history of animal abuse. The origin of pinatas were in Iceland to train seal clubbers who were so very hesitant to kill the poor little animals. Impoverished families would buy pinatas for their kids so that they'd learn to associate such violence with positive rewards. Now we've kind of lost the original meaning of the pinata but its not uncommon for young children to start hitting animals hoping for something good to fall out of them, and it's really desensitized our culture to what is really very senseless violence.

Yes.
I would also consider a vegetarian a hypocrite for eating animal crackers.

That sounds like an awesome story... but I sort of trust wikipedia's version more...
As for my own opinion...

I think Badkarma sums it up, exactly. Oh, and also, I accept one of my old friend's "vegetarianism" that for some reason didn't exclude bacon... (this is so on-topic)

No?
But I'm a savage northerner who cannot go a day without punching a seal or two in the nose. Well, okay, I can miss it once or twice a week, but that is only since I have a few alternate outlets for my animal-punching needs.....
Though seriously, what? In what kind of twisted place did this question come into being?

No. Probably cause 1) I don't normally see them too often and 2) When I do, they do NOT resemble real animals. They're pink/blue/green/multicolored cartoonish versions of animals, actual cartoon figures, or inanimate objects (like a star or pineapple or something).
What's barbaric is that some sicko came up with the amazing idea to have small children gather around to swing a bat while BLINDFOLDED. Yeah. Great.

No. I find the people surrounding the blind-folded person more endangered, anyway. LONG STORY SHORT, my baby cousin swung the bat - entirely missing - and hit his older brother. We had to take him to the hospital to get stitches... So, yeah.

Most pinata aren't even animals anymore. Why is this even a thread.

No.
Unless there is an animal inside...

Let's not forget pin the tail on the donkey.
Again with the animals and blindfolded children.
What are we teaching the youth?
😔
W.T....I don't even...

I'm betting you consider Easter the day we train our spawns to make sure birds don't go on living.
Now the real concern is Jelly, did you know that they make it with animal bones? If you are a Vegetarian and eat Jelly you are an hypocrite.... I find that hilarious.
Edit: You are right Tsuto, I went way too off-topic with that one
On-Topic; No , I'm sorry but I think that's pretty damn stupid.

Easter eggs, rabbits make them. Which leads to another question, but that isn't really related to this thread.
On topic, it varies on the point of view of the person witnessing piñata slaughter. As for me, I think I only took a part of it once, and all I was thinking was "Caaandyyy!", so I didn't even think of poor piñata's being killed and its insides eaten by little beasts.
