Vagabond all the way
Kenshin is great don't get me wrong but his policy of not killin is wat leads to most of the bad to cause even more carnage before kenshin stops them yet again
Musashi is better because he is more quick and decisive 😛

When I saw the title, I first thought: "Jesus! How can anyone capable of logic comparison compare Vagabond to Kenshin?!" but now I get it:

Quote from Calíbre

This in truth boils down to a Shounen vs. Seinen.

Kenshin = Samurai Shounen at its best.
Vagabond = Samurai Seinen at its best.

Both are very different in art, overall atmosphere, style and depth.
Kenshin was my first Shounen and I liked it until it began to bore.
Vagabond to the contrary never bores but amazes me. Totally different level.
I could never choose a laugh over great storytelling -> Vagabond.

Vagabond, Kenshin shouldn't even be compared to Vagabond.

I'll have to say Rurouni Kenshin.
I like Vagabond too, don't get me wrong, it was just a little too...gruffy? Something like that.
Even though I love seinen more than shounen, I had more fun reading Rurouni.

Kenshin was good.
But, to me at least, Vagabond seems superior, it has great character development and manages to throw in alot of philosophical issues, for me that is a huge plus. Not to mention the art.

Vagabond, hands down.

The art, story, character and their development are simply amazing.

i got bored with vagabond fast
everything is dragged out
talking takes forever
walking takes forever
fighting takes forever
[some fights are longer than DB fights...volume after volume in the same spot... staring]

also if i want to read seinen samurai the only choise is
Lone wolf and cub

i never got bored with kenshin
and i like to laugh so for me its a pretty easy choise

This is pretty much exactly how I feel. 😎

I still like Vagabond though! Maybe I'd like it more if there was more of Kojiro~
I sat down and read both manga after another. 😮 Vagabond first~ I needed more laughs so I read Rurouni!

Personally, I enjoyed both of them for different reasons, but even though they are "samurai manga" I think its like comparing apples and oranges. If I had to choose one, it would be Vagabond, though Rurouni Kenshin is easily one of my favorite shounens of all time.

Though I do agree, Vagabond does tend to drag at times, however its deviod of many of the lame stereotypical things that make me turn away from most shounen. However RK still has glimps of that within it, so it is why I'd choose Vagabond. Plus I mean, its Miyamoto Musashi, thats almost unfair.

I've not read Kenshin yet. I've heard plenty of good things about the manga but it being a shounen and a fighting manga, make me hesitate. Oh, I got nothing against shounen, just all the stereotyping that comes with it and often, I'm not very big on how shounen handles "character development".

I love Vagabond: from the way it sets up the world(no modern perceptions of it but instead, depicting a different culture from a different time period, just as it is), the fights, the philosophy(when it doesn't get too long-winded), the reasons why the characters act the way they are, etc.

I prefer Vagabond the manga, but I prefer Kenshin the movies (NOT the TV series).

I don't believe Vagabond was turned into a tv series but it should; I'm learning a little
bit of a history lesson here about a person who ONCE EXISTED, Musashi Miyamoto.
Kenshin is just as good but I prefer the movies (Trust, Betrayal and Reflection); I didn't
like how it can be so blood-lusting and serious (from the movies Trust and Betrayal) to
the tv series, where it has become very carefree (and the art sucked major time). 😔

Vagabond is one of my favourite mangas of all time. Sure it's drawn out a bit. But the artwork and story are just phenomenal.
