This is a kind of apples and oranges thing, since aside from the fact the protagonists are samurai living around the same time period in Japan, they are different in a bunch of different ways, so I can't really compare the two. I'll go with Vagabond since it's realistic (ie. no flashy fights that consists of special techniques), the story is awesome, and the art is fantastic. Though Kenshin is very good in it's own right.

They are not even in the same time period, nor are they marketed towards the same demographic. Kenshin is also more prolific in its circulation.

I voted for Rurouni Kenshin. 😎 Though that may be because I haven't read much of Vagabond. -_-' But I love everything about Kenshin. 🙂 Oro~

wtf...? Vagabond beat the crap of Kenshin. Too bad it's pace is exaggerated slow at times. Kenshin ain't bad though. However, Kenshin is just one of those shounen mangas that people are "afraid" to badmouth. Among with coughFMAcoughHxHcoughHnIcoughGTOcough. Not that any of these mangas deserves that. Thats hardly the point..

Now, on-topic, as a pure story Kenshin is good, just not as good as Vagabond. The Kyoto arc was the best, but the OVAs is the winners in the Kenshin saga. They're prob one of the best pieces of anime I've seen at least, and they owned the manga counterpart (I know the OVAs was made after). A bit too sentimental though. And, hey, there are tons of other Samurai mangas out there. Why only a poll between these 2??
😀 😎

I don't like much Kenshin the manga.... but Tsuikohen(Samurai X trust and betrayal) the OVA prequel is anime at its finest... even Vagabond can't match with that (especially since Vagabond has a knack for slowing down for wortheless considerations ...while the country episode in Kenshin has a real reason for his pace ). This single OVA is even better than Kenshin the manga and Vababond together! The style is so unique , the story so engrossing and tomoe splattered with bood in the snow is so painly beautiful.....
So if it's only manga then Vagabond . If it's the whole universe then Kenshin .

Vaganbond! I haven't read that much of Kenshin though but Vagabond has a better storyline and the art is so much better.

I really liked Kenshin, and it was the first manga that I loved enough to actually watch the anime. Unfortunately, my love affair with Kenshin was a long time ago, and Musashi from Vagabond can be downright sexy. Wait. "Can be"? Let me change that to "is always".

Kenshin could be downright sexy, too, but only when he loses his girly morals. lesigh

...Wow, that was the least objective post I think I've ever written.

Rurouni Kenshin.

This manga is one of the best Shounen manga out there, IMO, along with Death Note, Gintama, and Detective Conan.

Haven't read Vagabound, though, but I've heard it's very good.

I hate versus threads like this. They hardly even compare to each other in any respect. Kenshin is far more fanciful, while Vagabond is more realistic. Kenshin is more established as far as a manga, but Vagabond is based of a centuries old story. Apples to oranges, people.

<< Didn't you create a topic like this yourself? Naruto vs Bleach? I guess you mean when you compare whats the better manga.

I must admit I didn't like the "fanciful"/realistic style in Kenshin. If there frequently appears people over 2.5 meters that weights half a ton, in a manga based on the real world, it really annoys me. 😀 😎

^That wasn't a 'which is better' thread, it was a 'who would win in a fight' thread. Different.

Honestly, why versus thread? Both titles aren't even in same category but if it's fight/swordplay you meant then I have to say Vagabond FTW!!! 😀

hmmm i'd have to say that i appreciate Vagabond more. although i loved the story of Kenshin, Musashi's fascinates me more. i guess it really boils down to which one feels more fresh to you at the moment. and Vagabond feels just like that right now, especially since it's seeming more detailed than the 3 part samurai film.

i've only seen the kenshin anime... well up to the last fight with shishio and the movies + ovas... but comparing that too the vagabond manga, i'd say vagabonds better.... kenshin's a little too "cookie-cutter bubble gum and ice cream" for me, just a bit too "shouneny"... whiles vagabonds more adult, so it's more to my taste
