I don't think using the fact its a shonen to be a valid excuse for being so bad. One Piece has done everything to death and I still love it. If anything, its that Bleach takes itself so seriously on top of being a shonen is what's screwing it up.

I know! I really hated that part. It wasn't even really a cliche, because it was so stupid. The cliche is, "I'll use my left arm because your right arm is injured." THIS is, "Hey, take off my entire arm and leg!" I'm just reading Bleach to get it over with, but I don't think anyone would think that Ichigo's idea of losing two limbs (apparently, one limb being cut off just isn't good enough) was good. I will remember this chapter forever just so I can bring it up as a face-palm incident in the future.

On another note, I want to see the chief shinigami fight again. We never see him fight with his full power. And where the heck is Yoruichi? Darn it, I wanna see my favorite character again before Bleach ends!

I agree. Eyeshield 21 and Highschool of the Dead are more examples of shounen manga that have a ton of cliches and are still very good.

Why is this chapter called The Ash? Weren't we going on the 7 Deadly Sins (though we stalled on The Lust for... 6 chapters)? Last time I checked, Ash is not a sin, unless you're talking about Ash Ketchum or something.

This was a kinda stupid chapter as everyone has already said. The thing with "CUT OFF MY ARM AND LEG TOO, LOLOLOL" was just plain stupid. Sure, Ichigo is the "righteous protagonist" and must always have good morals but honestly.

Also, Ichigo said himself that his duty was to protect his friends. What the crap is he doing complaining that it wasn't fair?

That Ash Ketchum joke was funny. But Kubo named the other 6 deadly sins already in chapters 341-346. Don't know why he named 5 more chapters after The Lust though. It's probably related to something in those chapters.

Heh, I just assumed he came back from having the Hollow episode with a bit more brain damage, that's where all the cut-off-my-limbs stuff came from. It did make me laugh out loud at the computer screen though...

And Level 2 Hollow Ichigo (or whatever) looks like a total girl without the mask.. but at least he finally killed someone. Pity it was one of the best-designed characters in Bleach, who still had a bit of mystery going..
(And stabbed Ishida.. methinks we have much emo-ness to look forward to..) 😮

I think you may be right about the chapter being named "The Ash" because of Ulquiorra turning into ash. I guess we'll have to find out when they do it in the anime.

And I think that this was the last time we saw Nnoitra.

I just can't bring myself to hate anything about Bleach. I honestly can't. When I read this chapter I was genuinely touched. Ulquiorra and orihime have an interesting relationship to say the least. It was a really strange feeling, watching Ulquiorra turn to ash.

I will admit that Kubo Tite needs to set his priorities straight. have nothing against creating the characters first and then creating the story around them, it's just that he needs to make sure that the story is of the same importance as the characters.

It would also be reassuring to hear that the mangaka has planned out the ending of Bleach at least. At least we would know that the story is going somwhere...
