People Who Are Similar To You

The title looks funny 🤣
Anyway, so I read somewhere that people don't usually get along with people who are like themselves, but for me it's the opposite! 😃
My best friend is a lot like me, but I feel like I get along with her waay more than people who are opposite me. I also seem to be more attached to characters in manga who I feel I am similar to, I automatically really like them. My example: Makoto Kubota from Wild Adapter. I knew that I liked him ever since I started reading, but I wasn't quite sure what it was about him that I liked so much. I realized recently that he's a lot like me, (but of course he's like three times as awesome 😁 ).
(This was actually spawned from a comment ares made in the "What irritates you in general?" topic 🤣 )
I suppose it differs from person to person or something like that, but how you about you guys? What do you think? Do you get along with people who are similar to you? Or do they annoy you? 😕
Or did I just make a pointless topic with a simple answer? 😁

No, I think that you're right. For me, that'd be Sasuke Uchiha. I never showed much hatred to him like I did towards most of the characters in Naruto (but still adored the story anyways) and realized that his reactions and doings were a lot what I would do.

For the most part, I do get along well with people who are similar to me - we have things in common, after all. However, someone who is similar to me, in the areas where I don't like the way I am.... (_) Then we don't get along so well.

Well, alot of us "Birds" have "flocked" to MU because we all like manga, but there are alot of "opposites" here, too!
Hmm... I seem to get along better with people who share my hobbies, I'm quite shy so i need common interests to talk about xD
I just watched the latest Lucky Star episode and Konata said
"All the male otakus say they want an otaku who shares their interests as a girlfriend" "but you never hear female otakus wanting to date an otaku"
Any oppinions? xD

I don't know, I usually get along with everyone. None of my closest friends have a clue what anime/manga is though... or anime=cartoon porn.

🤣 That's funny! Personally, I don't mind dating an otaku guy, but they seem to be more interested in video games and hentai. 😛 They always have an idealistic image of girls in their minds.

I believe more in the former. Opposites attract, but they don't match well. We usually forget the second part.

No way! I think if I was to be in a relationship, the guy would have to be an otaku, or at least like anime ^_^;; Otherwise, I would have nothing to talk about and start gossiping about other people 😛
And he would especially have to accept my slight obsession with BL/yaoi cuz I don't want to hear him bash it 😮
I mean, just cuz they don't like it doesn't mean I'm going to stop liking it! >.< And I'm talking about all anime/manga, you know--->"I like what I like, so there!" kinda thing going on! Anime and manga are a big part of my life (doesn't that sound a little pathetic for some reason? 😢 ) so they would just have to learn that that's how I roll 😉
(I sound funky 😢 )

So so true. I'm usually the odd one out in my group of friends because of my lack of interest in the....common likings (music, TV shows etc.) An otaku girlfriend who has about the same level of otaku-ness as me would be ideal 😛 . But I say it doesn't really apply to girlfriends only. Just a friend would be nice 😀 . I think females have a higher standards (right?) and they'd rather have a cooler boyfriend >_>

Nah, most guys have high standards too. I've never seen a gorgeous guy date a plain looking girl, but the opposite always happen.

Touche 🤣
Is this topic about seeing lamer versions of yourself? It's creepy sometimes, especially if a group of people happen to look like the group of people you're with.

No, not "lamer", just...different 😛
But your comment made me think of Harold&Kumar:Go To White Castle, when Harold and Kumar seem lamer versions of themselves get beat up by a group of people 🤣

Exactly...but that's what happened to me! It was like looking into a living fun house mirror.

Yes , I feel more at ease when I'm with people who share my interests.
But I also have friends who have no clue what I'm yapping about ... >.>
I guess there must be some shared likes and dislikes . 🙂
well...i can pretty much get along with anyone unless they seriously piss me off...like i've got a friend who i'm really close to...but sometimes the way way he talks somehow annoys me...
but on the topic i can say i am more comfortable with people who share the same interests as me...i've got a group of friends who are otakus, then i've got a group of friends who are perverted and another group of friends who are gangsters/delinquents but still nice people...and i always spend more time with my friends who are otakus since i have something to talk about...since i'm usually the guy who has nothing to talk about 🤣
