Ok, i've read this manga some time ago that as far as i can remember had quite a few side stories and a couple of main stories.

The side story i remember vividly is of a high(or middle)school couple. The girl brings the boy to her house to meet her father. Well he's (the father) wearing a traditional japanese robe, and one can't fail to notice traces of tatoos an his neck and hands => he's obviously a yakuza boss. He says to the boy that he won't allow him to date his daughter unless he beats him in arm wrestling (you know with the table sitting opposite of each other etc..). The boy hsakes in fear and loses, then gets yelled at and runs away. But on the way the girl calls him to tell him that she loves him and no matter what she doesn't want to stop seeing him even if the have to do it in hiding. The boy builds up courage, returns and rechallenges the yakuza boss-father, of course loses again, but in the end he is accepted because of his courage, happy end.

That's all i can remember of the series!! if anyone has a clue on the name of the series please help me!!

That would be Salad Days, I reckon. The story you mention is the fifth chapter on the twelfth volume.
