One of the dumbest things I've ever done was accomplished while playing the first Golden Sun for GBA...
I had played through it almost to the end, but I got stuck in the Venus Lighthouse where you had to cross this one river of sand that was shorter in length and wider than any other in the game. I tried dozens of times to cross it, but I could never make it, and always fell off the ledge. So I handed it to a friend of mine, who immediately crossed it in one try. I took it back and tried myself a couple more times, but I still couldn't make it. So I asked my friend what I was doing wrong; he watched me try, and said, "Dude, why aren't you running across it?"
I was stunned. I had no clue that you could run. I had gone through the whole game... walking. I had leveled my people up to lv. 80; I had been roaming around for hours upon dozens of hours of playing time in this game, contentedly ignorant and walking the whole time. And I'm no newbie gamer either; I had played at least a dozen games before this where you press B to run, like in this one. I guess I just never thought about it, and for some reason I didn't end up doing it out of habit either.
So yup. Stu-pid. Can anyone top that?

In FF9, I accidentally bought 99 mythril swords.
Farewell money.
Also, the common gaming fever
which prevents saving and when
some insanely powerful monster
catches my poisoned party...

In Kingdom Hearts II I purposefully spent hours trying to beat Sephiroth but that wasn't crucial to the game. I kept dying after he hit me once, it's impossible I swear. The first time I play Devil May Cry I spent about 3 hours walking around the main chamber in the first mission tryong to figure our what the Hell I was suppose to be doing before I realised there were other rooms,. How stupid did I feel, lol.

In FF9, there's a part that you have to complete a rescue one of the characters from a dungeon before the Queen arrives to the castle, you got 30 minutes to do this, ok i was exploring the castle and found this insanely tough monster (a demon book thing) so the battle went on and on till i somehow vanquish it. I took a minute to give myself a pat to the back and went to save. After saving I noticed something curious, I've only had 2 seconds left. After the incident I always save on at least 2 blocks. 😢

Phoenix Wright, Trials and Tribulations.

Tried to save the game, but it didnt finish. Stayed on the same SAVING.. screen for 2 minutes, and it usually take 5 seconds. So i turned it off and, to my surprise, it deleted my whole save file. The thing that sucks about that was.. it was the either the second last or last case in the whole game. I wouldnt mind doing ONE case over again, but not 3 or 4 just to get to my last point in the game.

Luminous Arc 2.

Was losing a match, lost interest in playing at the moment, and i turned off my ds. When i went to play it again, my game went back to my last 3rd save.. i think. My main char was lvl 24 before, but it went back to lvl 19 or something.

I can still play it without playing the whole game over again, but i lost interest after what happened.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Repeatedly tearing up the wrong floor tile in the library, and eventually getting arrested by the guard.

....Well, I thought it was going to follow the movie! D:

Sephiroth was easier to beat in 2 because of the reaction commands compared to 1. This is played on the highest difficulty in both. So it is very possible.

Anyway, I was so into suikoden V and forgot to save almost 12 HOURS!!!!! of game time then suddenly had a black out. 😲

Ah, when I was young and first played pokemon. I was trying to teach a pokemon surf to advance but couldn't figure out how it worked; no one could learn it. I was frustrated and showed my friend on the playground... he asked why I was using a such strange pokemon: raticate, pigiotto, butterfry, charzard, primeape, and clefairy. I thought the pokemon you caught was a permanent party (that's why I waited and had a clefairy... I thought it would be useful) I guess I must have glazed over the box system and didn't realize I could swap Pokemon.

Edit: I also released all my pokemon when trying to learn the box system... thankfully my friend stopped me from saving.

Also... just recently I was playing Devil May Cry 4. In the mission after you beat Agnus for the first time (as Nero), when you extend a bridge into a waterfall and unlock a forrest area, I got lost and ran accross the entire game map to the start in an attempt to find the mission exit. (in most missions you can back to the opera house which is the start of the game).

When playing Summon Night, at the final Boss battle, I'm already at lvl 60. I kept losing and losing because I could not run away fast enough when the Boss attacks. One day my friend was looking at me playing at ask,

Friend: Why aren't you running?
Me: Eh? You can run in this game?
Friend: Sure. Just press the right or left arrow twice and you'll run in that direction. Plus, if you press down twice you'll back off from him w/out turning away.
Me: Wait, are you telling me that I've reach the final Boss w/out knowing how to run or back away from the enemy?
Friend: I guess so...
Me: 😲

X-COM: UFO Defence.

  1. I was too busy protecting Russia while evil aliens conquered all other countries(except Japan). So that's it. Game over.
  2. Forgot to throw cooked grenade. Boom. My elite "SpetzNaz" squad is dead. And i didn't saved.
  3. Accidentally made a shot from Blaster launcher in X-COM aircraft. >_<
(And many other dumb mistakes. It's all because i didn't used DOSbox.)

Final Fantasy 12.
Made 25 levels, got all the goods, weapons, armors, kicked several bosses asses, etc.
All this is result of 7 hours of intense non-stop play.
And... i forgot to save. 😢

Valkyrie Chronicles.
Got trigger happy with shocktrooper against 6 snipers.
Result: My flawless, perfect "clean mission" count was ruined with this K.I.A.

Blitzkrieg 2.
Called in too much backup on some not very important operation.
In final mission i was left without reinforcements. Had to re-play campaign.

Apollo Justice Ace Attorney(Played with emulator on my PC)
Connected a microphone during save.(Why the hell i did that?!)
It caused a emul crash which resulted in save corruption. It was final chapter. Now it's all from beginning.

Call of Duty
Quick save in 0.5 seconds before death.
Had to re-play level from beginning.

Kingpin: Life of Crime
Forgot to bind "use" key.
Was completly hopeless.

Ah, this can be very-very long.
🤣

in mana khemia, I didn't know I had to buy the recipes or whatever they were in order to level up, until after they were gone from the store, so I was stuck basically at the same level. I just dropped the game.
