Dumbest mistake you've made in a game?

Megaman Battlenetwork Blue Moon: I wasted all my battlechips while fighting the last boss so I had to buster his remaining 3000 HP ;_; It took a long time and a lot of retries.

my dumbest mistake was in FF VIII I went to the last boss without unlocking the options 😲 so i only had attack no GF no item no magic.... I was dead after 3 minuts... 🤢
It was a long time since I played FF8, but weren't you forced to take at least 1 extra option no matter what?
Think the most stupid misstake I've made was in Red Alert when i tried to beat the enemy with infantry rush that had tons of flamer guys in it (resulted in a total loss, as one of the flamer units got killed and it caused a chain-reaction which almost killed my whole army)
Other misstakes I've made was to try pressing "X" on my PS when playing FF7 to get rid of the chat-text. Though I had completed the game a few times before but I just had a long break from it, with playing FF8 from the start and just mainly kept on pressing "X" so i didn't have to read all the crap all over again. Other FF7 misstakes I had made was to try fighting ultima-weapon at the first encounter against it with low on items (i sell them a lot) and without materia equipped because I switched everyone in my party after cloud got missing and forgot to change switch them. So plainly i tried to fight ultima-weapon with shitty characters without anything to hammer him with.

Hmm... on some random fps game, I forgot to turn on my shield (or something) so I stepped out and died, I restarted the level, forgot, and died again 🤣

Prince of Persia (2008)
-Forgot to save the game the first time I played it.
Dead Space
-Wasting too much ammo on one boss
-Getting killed off in the asteroid level

Fire Emblem:Radiant Dawn-
-Upgrading only Ike's companions as well as the other people but not upgrading the stupid Shrine Madien's party. As well as letting a few people get killed then later to find out I need them. Weak characters vs strong characters do not mix in the final chapter and stupid Macaih doesn't do crap to help. =/
-Battle saved knowing I have a laguz amongst me and that a permanent laguz transmformation stone was among the group and not trading it into the party I chose to fight with.
Oblivion:
-Stealing from Bruma.
-Cheating
-Killing hobos in Bruma, killing, guards 😀
Halo:
-Riding banshees only without attacking

You know in hopscotch you're supposed to throw the stone at a box with the number, right? I threw it outside of the line... O_O;; once.

GTA 3: Killed Maria w/ sniper rifle in the final mission thinking she was Catalina. What makes it so stupid was that I made the "nuna nuna" sound while going for the headshot and felt so proud of killing her until I saw the mission failed sign pop right out.
Wolfenstein Enemy territory- Had an itchy trigger finger and blew up myself and five other friendly players with a panzerschrek. Got booted by punk buster immediately after.
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion: Had no idea how the level system worked and focused on nothing but leveling my main skills. By the time I finally realized my mistake, every encounter was fifteen minutes of pain.
X-Com UFO defense: Fusion balled entire team, multiple times. Failed to equip team with weapons. Entered into battle without reallocating equipment late in the game resulting in over equipped bastards who could barely move. Accidentally aborted final mission resulting in automatic mission fail and bad ending. Accidentally built too many heavy plasma clips instead of guns resulting in total depletion of Elerium resource forcing me to restart the game. Yeah, X-Com really resulted in a lot of memorable/dumb errors.

FIRST BAD EXPERIENCE IN GAME
online game....
RUNESCAPE.... i was into the game to try recruiting people into a clan like group, met this guy, and his condition for joining was to fight him saying "he wants to test my strength"... followed him into the pk area, saying i have to go further ( i was far enough that i couldnt run away easily )...
than fought him and got slaughtered, and had all my months work of items stripped and felled into the hands of a scumbag....
though i was dumb for believing in him and being overconfident, but that was like 5 years ago, and i was new to mmorpg online games, where interacting with people had a big key factor in strategies....
SECOND WORST
being naive in a game called TRAVIAN will get you slaughtered.... its has some smartness in its strategy but its ALL about using your strength level of your army to control people and territories AND using your time wisely or know how to use time...
i simply also had trust issues... let my comrades take lands promising me protection, and they screwed me over after our guild got attacked so they quickly quit guild and joined another... ( people do that alot )

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
First time playing it I skipped the in-game tutorials so I missed the tid-bit on how the R-button was to block with the shield (I thought the spin attack included a raised shield, given Link's stance). I spent several hours trying to beat the deku-bush mini-boss in the deku tree until I gave up and restarted the game, paying attention to all of the text bubbles.
Ninja Gaiden Black:
First play through, I didn't stock up on items for the second to last boss, thinking I could re-supply later. I was wrong. After a couple dozen or so futile attempts at trying to beat the final boss w/o healing items (I didn't have a back-up save prior to the second to last boss), I gave up and restarted the game from beginning.
Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced
More often than I cared for, I dispatched my team w/o looking at the set laws. I accidentally kill a guy using something I'm not supposed to use with my main character and suddenly it's game over. Sucks since I never never habitually saved in that game.
A bunch of times I fail to notice the light on my GBA or DS turn from green to red, and more often than not lost a ****load of progress because I didn't save before my batter died.

One of the dumbest things I've ever done was accomplished while playing the first Golden Sun for GBA...
I had played through it almost to the end, but I got stuck in the Venus Lighthouse where you had to cross this one river of sand that was shorter in length and wider than any other in the game. I tried dozens of times to cross it, but I could never make it, and always fell off the ledge. So I handed it to a friend of mine, who immediately crossed it in one try. I took it back and tried myself a couple more times, but I still couldn't make it. So I asked my friend what I was doing wrong; he watched me try, and said, "Dude, why aren't you running across it?"
I was stunned. I had no clue that you could run. I had gone through the whole game... walking. I had leveled my people up to lv. 80; I had been roaming around for hours upon dozens of hours of playing time in this game, contentedly ignorant and walking the whole time. And I'm no newbie gamer either; I had played at least a dozen games before this where you press B to run, like in this one. I guess I just never thought about it, and for some reason I didn't end up doing it out of habit either.
So yup. Stu-pid. Can anyone top that?
😐
You can run using the B button?

In FFX I didn't understand the meaning of the Sphere Grid and played all the way up to the Mt. Gagazet point without actually activating any nodes on the Grid, I just moved the characters across them thinking that was all you were supposed to do. That game is so very hard to play without using the Sphere Grid. I pretty much gave up on it because I thought the game was just way too hard. Then I decided to play it again and actually paid attention to the tutorial of the Sphere Gird, and then breezed through the game... I certainly learned to actually watch Tutorials after that. Playing through it without the Spere Grid is by far the most difficult thing to do, and doubt I could get that far again by doing that, since I got spoiled with it during my second play though. I was like 12 then though, and hated reading all the boring stuff, so that is why.
Zelda: Twilight Princess, like right after the first time as a Wolf you have to go through the forest and a monkey steals your lantern and uses it to get rid of th poison fog and afterwards the lantern runs out. I didn't buy any of the lantern oil before doing it, so I was stuck there and had to start over. At least it wasn't far into the game and didn't take long to catch back up.
My younger days as a gamer during any RPG game, I would run away from just about all battles and just go for the bosses to battle. You can pull that method off in the beginning but later it is just near impossible. I was a really dumb kid.
Tales of the Abyss, the part when you have to go through the Marsh and they have Behemoth in there (at least I think that was the name of the monster, it is the one with all the swords and stuff in his back) and they tell you to not face him and just run away if you get into a battle with him. Well I was being stubborn because I didn't want my having no flees from battles to be ruined, so I fought him instead. I won the battle, but there isn't anything awarded for beating him at that time. And also a later found out after my second play through that it actually doesn't add on to the count, I ran because I didn't want to spend forever trying to beat him again for nothing... Completely not worth beating him the first time around...
Maniac Mansion, an old game for the NES, I could never find out how to get into the mansion. And since my copy of the game was stolen, I will never have a chance to redeem myself. So now I have to sit here and wonder what could of been. That's probably the first mistake with a game.
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, another game for the NES, whenever I played that as a kid I would die shortly after... I just played it again the other day and I didn't die, so I wonder what was up with back then. Because I mean like 5 seconds into the game I would die. I wonder what was up with that, but I don't know if I can recruit that.
Zelda: A link to the past, I tried killing the thief that is in the forest where the Master Sword is... Lost lots of stuff to him. Another mistake with that game is that I had my shield stolen or something and I didn't realize it for the longest time, I actually have no idea how long I played without a shield but I bet it was for awhile.
Front Mission 4, didin't pay attention to what would cause a game over in one of the mission. It was one of the missions in South America, where you just captured Diaz and was about to leave, but then you are attacked. Well you have another group you have to play and at least one of them has to survive. Well I pretty much used that entire unit as a shield for the main characters, and I was just up against the last 3 Wanzers, and only 1 was left from the other unit a controlled was left, and I put him in the front line even though he was almost dead, because I was just using him as a shield anyways for the sniper. And then the enemy phase kicked in and they killed that guy and a big "Game Over" came on the screen... Then I was ticked because that was a tough battle, and I had to redo the entire thing again. Second time around wasn't too hard luckily, since I already knew what to expect.

If it makes you feel any worse about it, there's a stall with a bird selling lantern oil near there. You could buy from that bird before you need to use the lantern again. Looks like someone needs to facepalm again.

i can only remember the recent one that pissed me off a few days ago. so i was playing final fantasy 4 for ds and i got pretty far because it's easy, except i forgot about the augment system. after palom and porom died if you had given them an extra augment you'd get dualcast which would helpsofriggenmuch later in the game. well crap. i forgot/didn't know. luckily, i have another save file before they die so guess i'll just start over. i'm mad though because i spent a few hours powerleveling early.
