I would see a hentai cover and would always pass them. So, I can't remember how I found some hentai doujin's when I was 14.

I was mostly into ecchi and yaoi...but I read what I found, and still ignored hentai until I noticed the wide selection.

I'll speak from my own "short" experience with hentai. 😛
When I first laid eyes on it I immediately disposed of anything that led me to such a dangerous place. But over time I decided to pick it up again, to be honest the first year or so I only read guro and all that hardcore stuff. Hormones run wild after all. 😀 After a while it got boring and I guess rather "meh" so now I only read softcore hentai, much like your taste. Plot ftw!

Guess when you're young and find something new you want to see the best side of it, you know for all it's worth. I can say the same thing for manga in general since I was only interested in the popular titles when I first started, over time my interests changed. :/

I didn't think many girls would be into guro and stuff right from the beginning. Some of them ARE interesting, I admit and don't mind reading them from time to time, but I never find them a turn-on or funny.

Rebellious youth, eh? 🤣

I guess it also has to do with personal and sexual experience. Speaking for myself, If I don't see something I can relate to (meaning funny, interesting situations and preferably with good-looking guys), I won't continue reading. Guro and a lot of hardcore stuff are definitely not what I am into, though I did read some, not for hormones going wild though.

A question for you all: how do you define "hardcore"? I wouldn't think shotacon, lolicon, 3somes or orgies and any general consensual sex are necessarily hardcore since I've read some doujinshi with them. I would think something with excessive fluids, sexual violence (to the point of making it not funny) and all that physically impossible stuff (including but not limited to super enlarged body parts, monsters, etc) are hardcore. What do you think?
