I have no idea... Oh yeah, I like the manga's artist.

I dropped the manga after 15 chapters though.
No offense, but I don't see the appeal in it. It's bad.

And grows stale.

Started to read from the very beginning when it debuted in JUMP. At first I wasn't too thrilled about the series since it made mention that Bakuman was being done by Death Note mangaka but, I was willing to give a shot since I know most mangaka usually do something different from their previous work. Glad I did continue reading. This series rids the bad taste of Death Note out of my mouth.

Started reading when there were was only a couple of chapters out because it sounded interesting not because of the mangaka. I did however realize that it was the same illustrator as Death Note and Hikaru no Go when I started reading as the art style was very similar though slightly more matured. The long explanations just cemented that it was also the same author/writer as Death Note.

I've been reading it since the beginning. I was looking for something new after reading all the other WSJ titles for that week and I happened to notice Bakuman chapter 1. I have to say that it is one of the very few times I have actually started reading a series from the first release.
When I pick a series at random, I usually skip the summary. Sometimes they ruin it for you, and sometimes they don't know what they're talking about, so I don't bother. Instead I jump right into reading it. I'll usually give it a chapter or two to catch my interest or drop it. This was one I definitely knew I wanted to follow before I had even finished the chapter.
While reading it, I could tell the artist was the same as Death Note. But knowing this beforehand wouldn't have influenced me either way.

As usual was bored waiting for releases when I spotted this series.

I started reading it because I heard about it at an anime convention, and thought it sounded interesting. A woman came up to me and asked me if I've heard about Bakuman, and that it was about two boys trying to become Mangaka. Since I wanted to be a mangaka, naturally I was excited to start reading.

It was a bit boring in the beginning, but I think after about... Maybe 5 to 6 chapters, it got better.

Now it's in my top 5! No, scratch that, top 3. I enjoy it a lot, I can't WAIT for an anime. 😀

A few months after it came out. The summary sounded interesting but I didn't want to read something so short (only a few chapters when it first came out)

I started reading it around chapter 40 or so because a bunch of people were saying it's good and the plot sounded interesting because I like to write and draw and create things all the time so I could kind of relate. It wouldn't be near as interesting to me if I didn't. But now it's taught me so much about how the manga industry works! It's one of my favorite manga and I keep looking forward to the next chapter.

The manga started off pretty decent, but then hit a slump in chapters 30-40. At that point I stopped reading, but later on because of boredom I decided to give it another chance. After that the manga got dangerously addictive somehow and instantly became one of my favorite ongoing manga
