So I've been wanting to go to a student exchange trip for a long time now (since i was around 10, haha). I hadn't been able to, but I finally will this coming September. ;P

I was actually planning to go to France (since I live in Canada & French would be much more useful), but I got this really good price for going to Japan from August 2010 till June 2011. I'd have to apply by the end of the month, though, haha.

I'm hoping I'll get passed the preliminary process and I'll get accepted. XDD;

But well... wish me luck!

From the title I was expecting something more extreme. Like asking asking a person you met for the first time that is Japanese to marry you, or spending your life savings on junk from Japan plastered with cartoon images.

This seems more like curiosity about other cultures and wanted to explore as you considered other options besides Japan.

I spent a semester in Japan when I was in high school, too, and it was really fun even without any useful knowledge of Japanese.
