I'm just going to link to an editorial by Adam Savage (of MythBuster fame). These laws are no good in their current form. I recommend that you find out for yourself what these laws are about, and why they are bad for the internet community. I believe the congressional hearings will start again on the 21st, and they will be streamed.

Click here for the article at Popular Mechanics

Edit: I also thought this Stanford Law Review article was informative:

Edit 2: I guess they're waiting till early January to continue the hearings? We'll see.

Internet will be done if this is released i have nothing against America in general but they always go too far they won't stop a with piracy for sure.
This will get crazy i tell you they will start closing every site that have piracy meaning bye bye manga, anime and lot of other things and they will probably also close any site who promote thoses thing meaning bye bye Baka-Update and i lot of other...
Also legitimate site will start closing for no reason because america will think they do piracy without any proof.
And last all thoses saying SOPA should be release because they say piracy make them lose money but i think sure piracy don't help but the reason the products don't sell is because of the quality of the products they sell simply suck...
You have games on consoles who break record in selling i mean damn you have CoD who have sold 9.3M in 1 days so it's really still possible to sell a lot nowaday even with piracy you just have to released things the population want stop blaming piracy because the product you make suck and no1 want to buy them...

This is not something you can blame either side for - there's widespread support for SOPA / PIPA in both parties. The real culprits here are MPAA and RIAA.

Yes, we need to form countermeasure such as Stop Against Hypocrisy (SAH) or something like that...

"Right now Congress is considering two bills—the Protect IP Act, and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA)"
Well, this is suck. I mean, the fate of internet's future is depending on America's congress. I'm afraid it's depending on the wrong heads. To top it off, this wouldn't only affect the country of the one responsible, but getting the whole world involved. Man, they're just not admirable busybodies.

Simple - the media is in cahoots with MPAA and RIAA.

This video pretty much explains what SOPA is, how it would work if it is passed, what the ramifications are, and how it pretty much will screw up the internet for the whole world not just those in america.
