Also on topic, Isshin has never expressly been called a captain. Yes, he alluded being one but it's never been confirmed. Shinigami, yes. Captain, maybe.

Well Isshin seems to know alot about the vaizards, so he might had a connection with them when he was a shinigami. I pretty sure he was a captain, a strong one as well.

TBH I think isshin/urahara/ryuuken are stronger than the current captains! exception for the captain commander.

I don't disagree that he probably was a captain when he was a shinigami, just pointing out that Tite has not put out anything other that hints that he was one.

I do agree that Urahara and Isshin are probably stronger that most of the current captains in the Soul Society.

well what i think is that isshin had to be a captian, and his mother mighta been a shinigami since their son has such immense power.

and urahara prolly used that thing to turn them into humans to escape the shinigami world...

What I'm wondering now is how his powers came back. He probably was a captain, which would explain ichigo's high spiritual energy. i'm guessing that there'll be a gaiden on it in the middle of the story after they all get of out mucho huenda. (is that what it's called? I forget)

But yes, I agree with you on the part that Masaki was human and that Isshin was a captain.

Isshin was most likely Urahara's Vice Captain when Urahara was captain. Misaki was probably either a human with high spiritual powers OR she could've been gasp a hollow! Frankly, we don't even know if she's really dead or not, since they never showed that scene, only Ichigo fainting and then waking up and looking around for his mother's ghost around that area (which he never found). And Grandfisher could've been lying his ass off about killing and eating her to throw Ichigo off guard while they were fighting. She could've been a) a regular human with high spiritual powers and got eaten or b) was a hollow and was threatened and forced to return to Hueco Mundo or else Ichigo would get the short end of the stick.

But who knows, I guess we'll find out after Kubo Tite pulls out all these plot devices and whatever from out of nowhere.
