I don't know about you but I don't really like people such as Battlebrat writing about his disturbing piece of mind.
But he hasn't posted anything for a while now...at least not to my knowledge. And also, you could just NOT read the post/topic >_>
Hmm... if someone doesn't know when to stop messaging you or sends something particularly... tasteless... I'm sure an admin will help with a ban/suspension.
Though if this thing is happening a lot, manual PM blocking would be useful.

let's not argue over the technicality. Politicians do that, sophists do that, but they never get anything done. Neomail use it, Hotmail use it, Yahoo mail use it, every other message system uses blocking system
Ah...did you actually read the whole post before replying?

why shouldn't we be the first forum to initiate a blocking system.
Are you talking about the post blocking suggestion or the PM one?

I'm talking about both. Of course I read all of your comment. Gosh, it's so hard to talk to you straight to the point....Focus on The Blocking System Argument instead of me personally....
You're all Sucking Up aren't you....

Even if you could block posts, I'm not sure you would want to. It would leave holes in threads, even the biggest spammer has on-topic posts. Curiosity would also get you. I don't think it would be particularly useful on this forum.

I guess I wouldn't care but in theory not showing some people's post's would make the flow of the conversation a bit off
espicially if they started the thread

Filtering posts would be lame. better yet "emo". letting that run wild would be mad gay. moderators are there for a reason. ignoring posts that are constructive to the discusion because of a personal grudge is pretty childish.
granted i have a site account that actually has an ignore option. it is good for spam and such but that does get deleted. eh.....i say it is a good idea but at the same time i really don't respect it. as such i don't really support it or the pm blocking either. banning a spammer etc is better than someone angrily blocking a person who might want to contact via pm for a private discussion after a heated debate.

I think this forum is pretty friendly (Isn't part of why so many people like it here?), I don't really see any need for blocking anything 🙄

yup. i'm against the idea of BOTH post blocking and pm blocking.
the only thing blocking would be good for is to censor stuff so that you won't have to read it. the only valid thing that needs to be censored is spam.
since we have mods, we can control that spam if it's in posts
since we have mods, we can ban people who spam people through PMs
the only other reason i see that people would want blocking is to filter out peoples' opinions that they don't want to hear... and this, to me, is not a valid reason to merit a system for blocking people.

Both? Well, almost nobody agree with the post blocking suggestion because is simply "incongruent". When you are in a conversation you are interchanging information with all the members that are taking part of it and the inability of follow even one idea could lost you completely. Just imagine that you are chatting with a group of friends and that you have the option of completely block one of them. Sure, the conversation could flow but you couldn't take part of it since dialogues are based on the interactions of the parties: without some sort of connection between all the speakers a discussion is impossible.
And the same rules apply here: a person that posts in a thread is always an important part of it since is simply taking part of an online conversation. It is true that there are some isolated posts that are ignored due to its lack of importance, but it is very ludicrous to suppose that every post that the person(s) you're impeding are always going to be inconsequential and therefore overlooked by the others...
