I just recently read a shojo manga monkey high and realized how awesome it is that the girl wasn't interested with the the super hot attractive popular guy, and instead went for the short kid. It was a lot more interesting to read, I was wondering if there are any more manga like that.
Where the protagonist of the series doesn't choose the super hot popular person, but instead goes for the average or maybe somewhat unattractive or unpopular person. (pleas don't include ecchie mangas where the looser boy suddenly is liked by attractive girls, or mangas where a plain girl is liked by a really hot guy, as that is the protagonist and therefore is in the regular nich of protagonist liking the popular/hot person.)

examples that I can think of are
my hero! girl likes popular school idol, but is starting to like a random nice guy in another class
lovely complex really tall girl likes really short boy
Hatsukoi Limited girl who is obsessed with boys hot faces falls for a boy who looks like a kappa

Aye, that does make for a more interesting story.

There are a few out there, but atm all I can think of is Suki-tte Ii na yo.
But even that isnt spot on. Hmmm...
