Now, I know this one is a long shot, but I'm looking for a story focusing on a brilliant female military strategist.

I'm not going to place too many restrictions on genres, seeing as the base concept itself is so unlikely, but I will mention a few things.

1. I would heavily prefer manga, but I won't be overly picky. A good anime or a novel, light or traditional, is fine too. I would prefer something longer than a single movie though.

2. I enjoy a romantic sub-plot, so I'd like it to be a factor if at all possible.

3. I hate extensive perspective swaps; I'd like the story to be told from the perspective of the main character all, or almost all, of the way through the story.

Alright, that's about it. I appreciate any and all suggestions.

I really think that Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - "Kono Watashi no Mono Tonare, Yuusha yo" "Kotowaru!" fits what you're asking for in the first and second points but unfortunately for the last point it doesn't.

Right, well, I'm afraid that doesn't really fit my request. As far as the story goes, it isn't about a female military strategist. More of a political schemer really. Worse, it seems to focus on the male lead, which isn't what I want.

Don't get me wrong, it's good, just not what I'm looking for.

urmm i can only hink of basara, but its a shoujo

The closest thing I can think of right now is black lagoon though rather than military It's more mercenary and the lead is male but there are a few prominant females who are really good at warfare. The series is on hiatus and i see potential for more romance

Have not read it yet but from what I've seen I believe claymore should fit the military part
