I totally disagree with the both of you... and think you should gtfo
The three you named might be the last 3 commercially successful Hip-Hop artists that were any way decent (even though personally I think they are woefully over-rated) but it is so unbelievably shortsighted to write off a whole genre because their isn't decent artists making it big in the Pop charts -______-

Also disagree, there's good rap out there still, hip hop still alive although not as much as before,you might just have to look harder or in the underground...Eminem is ok, but is also overated mainstream rapper, there's cats out there that will kill him in rap...and as I said before Tupac and Biggie are overrated rappers[but still decent] who lots of people who don't know rap throw out their names to say like they know hip hop, see it all the time in rl.

I guess I should have clarified my meaning... I'm not saying there's still not good rap and hip-hop... but I feel as though a lot are repetitive.
If it weren't for the gutter, my mind would be homeless.

Since 6? so, what 2 year? 🙄
Actually even if it was 2 years, that is still longer than I have (I know shame on me for coming to the party so late in the day), and I have still found a great depth of new and interesting artists who don't Rap about guns, bitches and bling...
gtfo 😀 I think you have just proved my point that you don't look past the mainstream charts for your music 😳 The other great rappers you name are the other mainstream rappers that anyone would know, so I am not convinced on the point of you knowing sweet fuck all about Hip-Hop
gtfo =>
Also if you are going to reply again; paragraphs, sentence structure, less repetition, some logical point and less profanity kthx <3 Don't want to get this beautiful topic locked now do we? 🙂
Also I don't think gtfo is a personal insult I am just asking you to vacate the topic 🙂 in a quick simple manner 😀
I will also be so nice as to help show you some good new Hip-Hop, This blog usually has daily updates of new and interesting Hip-Hop. Education, such a beautiful thing tear

I can say this much. Mainstream rap is not what it used to be.
Now both of you shut up.
I'll be damned before I'll let this topic get locked on some dumb shit.

It's a contradiction to think of "GOOD" rap and not think of sex, drugs, money, and gunplay cuz the artists these "GOOD" rappers drew inspiration from built whole catalogs based on just that. its easy to talk about and wackass rappers overplay it, but so is the elitist conscious rap mentality. Skills is what separates a shawn carter from a sean combs.
a couple things to think about. who talks about sex more than devin the dude? who talks about violence more than DMX? who talks about money and drugs more than ghostface killah? Lupe was a gangsta rapper, Andre 3000 was a pimp, and Jay-z got puffy to co-produce Volume 1.
Of course, none of this sh*t applies if the album is straight garbage. DJ Clue gets other producers and rappers on his projects to make up for his own shortcomings and it works. Hiphop fans love to hate Soulja Boi. Years down the road when the royalties check stop coming in the mail and he loses all commercial recognition and he pulls off a DJ Clue, I might be willing to give his album a download. In this situation, Soulja Boi would be considered "GOOD rap".
