Give tips on how to be healthy here~ Be it with food habits or exercising. Share
it all with your fellow members, so that they too can embark on a healthy life! o_~

And I'm not talking about anything drastic. 🙂 Just small things that amount to a lot over time!

Eating healthy really isn't all that hard but sticking to it is key. o_o It's all about the choices we make. Portion control is a big part of it though. You can take those big meals you eat and break them down to smaller meals. Why eat the whole thing now when you can have some now and more later?

For some people, eating is an oral habit just like smoking. If you feel those small cravings, just chew on some gum. It's only a few calories and it helps curb appetite. :]

When drinking something, sip on it instead of gulping it down. The air
you take in will help fill your stomach. Soup is pretty filling too~

I'm in a very lucky postiton as it happens when it comes to food. I get that 5 a day thing no problem without even trying.

My dad cooks amazing healthy dinners practically everyday.

Without that I'd be so lazy to cook my own food, and be making the simple things that don't give you that much nutrition.

As for exercise, I don't actually bother to go out and do some. The only form of exercise I get is walking to and from school and playing field hockey. The hockey helps a lot, but I don't exercise regularly and so my stamina is low 🤣

So I wouldn't say I try my best, but I'm not unhealthy either.

As for tips, I say don't over eat. When your stomach says "enough", no matter how nice it tastes, you gotta stop. I'm talking from experience as well. Christmas and New Years, oh man don't even go there 🤣

Why has this thread not have more replies. 😐 Unhealthy youngins'!! DX

Anyways...

Does anyone know of a yummy-tasting healthy snack you can munch on whenever you have that urge to eat something light? O_O I can't think of anything, sadly. >.> <.< And don't say apples!

Oh yeah, and are bananas healthy?

And another thing, are those mass-produced fruit drinks
healthy? Or are they just as bad as soda stuff? >.> <.<

Get a dog and you'll have to walk him a couple of times each day.

Also, use the bike, not the car.

Maybe a good snack would be pita bread with hummus? I think that hummus isn't bad for you ... 😁 Whenever I get hungry, I heat half of a pita bread (they're fairly big and thin) that has been heated in the microwave for about 15 seconds and then dip it in some hummus.

With carrot sticks.
Never forget the carrot sticks when eating hummus.

I live by a mix of food rules by Michael Pollan & The Weston A. Price Foundation.

I don't drink any sugary drinks (a little honey is added to tea or kefir, but I keep that as low as I can). Kefir, Kombucha, Water Kefir, Raw Milk, & Water are all I drink. All of them have little to no sugars (or better sugars). No fruit juice as it's just the fructose without the fiber, not good for you.

I only drink raw milk (pasteurized is almost worthless nutritionally, wish we had it in vending machines here like they do in Europe!).

I avoid any foods at the store with ingredients that are unrecognizable as pure food, or that contain corn byproducts (means I really don't eat any industrialized food, I have to make many things like bread from scratch at home). Guar gum, dextrose, corn syrup, ect are examples of the corn.

The vegetable portion of my meals is larger than the meats.

My meats are grass-fed, or pasture raised, much, much, higher in omega 3's vs omega 6's that factory meats run rampant with (natural diets and well lived lives vs. a factory farm where they wallow in their own filth till they get sent off to slaughter) (ratios in the grass-fed are 2-1 omega 3 to omega 6; factory are 10-1 omega 3 to omega 6).

I only use raw butter, olive oil, lard, and coconut oil for cooking oils. (sugars are the real killer, you need healthy fats to break down vitamins and minerals. The fats are digested through the gut, the fructose in sweet things however gets metabolized in the liver, and is treated like Ethanol...like a poison. Most of the Fructose is turned into fat. There is unlimited storage in the body however for Glucose [stored in the liver], so don't confuse the two).

I buy local, from farmers market, or a Co-op. Organic also happens as it can be more nutritionally dense food (however, I avoid large companies for organic and will buy local over that, as big organic is about as sound as industrially produced food to me).

I try and eat my meals slowly at a table, and eat till I'm about 80% full.

No snacks late at night, and snacks are usually fruits or nuts (whatever is on hand).

That's the small version of how I eat (tried to condense it as much as possible).

They are just as bad as soda or anything else sweetened. The fiber in the fruit helps in digesting the fructose properly (fructose is treated like a poison in the liver), when the fiber is removed, it just adds to body fat. I recommend watching the youtube lecture below.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBnniua6-oM

It's called "Sugar: The Bitter Truth". It's an eye opening lecture from a pediatric endocrinologist who has been documenting the insane rise in obesity rates in infants and peds.

i eat what my mommy buys. =D
and speaking of bananas, it's funny cause i'm eating one right now.
anyway, i think they are healthy, because i remember one of my teachers from way back, saying that the most healthy (or something) thing to eat when you're stranded on an island is a banana cause it has most of the vitamins.

WOW. 😲 i'm really surprised about all these strict health/eating rules that some are posting about.
but i guess i eat a little healthy. 😕
i eat rice and chicken EVERYDAY--cause i'm asian(haha), only have soda drinks and chips every other weekend, no desserts (except if we persuaded the parents), and i (and my family) never go pig out at fast food restraunts---or any, really, except for one day every year, probably. ughhhh. i'm soooo tired of eating chicken!!! not to mention i also eat that everyday at SCHOOL! >:-( . i mean...how much chicken can one eat? 😕

i love fruits though. 😀

well whatever. i can really use some junk food.
CURLY FRIES!!! ICE CREAM!!! CANDY!!! 😔

It's cause no one loves you anymore Doc. 🤣

Anyway, hitting the gym is a good idea. Or if you're low on money, fuck with some gangbangers to get some good cardiovascular exercise. 🤣

Most of the meals I prepare are sickeningly healthy (salads, soups, fruit...etc), so I do my best to balance it out with tobacco and alcohol.

I have my vices, I love chocolate and will drink alcohol socially but I don't smoke or eat out a lot.I don't diet but since I'm a veggie I take care about what I eat.I practise aikido and go to the gym but catch the bus and drive a car rather than get up earlier and walk.

I guess I'm kinda healthy and kinda not. I could be healthier but I refuse to obsess over what could kill me decades down the line at the expense of having fun now. I'm going to die one day of something and I know of people who are fit as a fiddle having heart attack, non-smokers getting lung cancer. I could get hit by a car or bus tomorrow!

As long as I'm not overweight or unnaturally skinny I'm happy. I'm not changing my lifestyle to suit whatever the current reigning theory is about what might kill me. Life is for living after all, I'm not spending mind focussing on death. When death comes I want to be able to say I lived my life.
