Best Gay & Lesbian Films.

Hello everyone~!
I would like you to name the best gay and lesbian themed films you can think of.
The age, setting, explicitness - doesn't really matter to me.
All I ask for is for the film to be interesting.
There should be at least one main homosexual relationship in the film.
It can be centered around it, like Boys Don't Cry, Les filles du botaniste,
or it can be a secondary theme, like Far from Heaven (which I loved),
The Hours (didn't especially enjoy it...)
And so on. :3
You can include a brief summary, tell me why you liked the film.
I'll be glad to read it. ^^
Recommend away~
Thank you in advance!
Edit:
Now I wonder if I should have made it in the Yaoi/Yuri section...
Though I'm looking for films with real people. Not manga or anime.
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

Yay!
Okay, here are my favorites, in order:
Les amities particulieres
One of my favorite films of all time. It's a tender, restrained, and beautifully-made romance between a lower school boy and an upper school boy in a Catholic boys' school in France. There is no sex or even any kisses, but the repressed tension is off the charts - both between the boys and between the boys and the priests. This is the film that inspired Hagio Moto and Takemiya Keiko to create Thomas no Shinzou and Kaze to Ki no Uta, respectively, meaning that this film is what caused the entire BL genre.
Madchen in Uniform
Released in Germany, 1931, this is lauded as the first "lesbian film" because of the protagonist's crush on her teacher and dorm supervisor, but the relationship isn't the most important part of the film. It's an expertly-crafted allegory on the fascism that was beginning to grip the nation.
Summer Vacation 1999
They say this film is based on Thomas no Shinzou, but it's less like an adaptation and more like a heady dream inspired by a vague memory of Thomas no Shinzou. It's an extremely solemn, extremely Japanese affair, filled with obscure references to literature, unclear dream sequences, reincarnation, and an obsession with purity. It's extremely difficult to understand and in fact probably not a very good movie. But the gorgeous cinematography and setting coupled with the fact that all the boys are played by teenage girls makes this one of my favorite films.
Maurice
A well-done film adaptation of the novel by E.M. Forster.

Sunshine Cleaning and My Summer of Love
They are both really good films in my opinion. But I think I just have this soft spot for Emily Blunt though.
Plata Quemada
I don't know, but I'm pretty sure I might have suggested this to you before, but no harm in suggesting it again. 🤣
C.R.A.Z.Y.
So its hard to describe this movie. As far as movies in general go, it's an okay movie, but as far as gay movies go, it's actually really good.
For some reason I almost suggested RocknRolla. 🤣

La mala educación is pretty good. A bit fucked up..yeah, but very sexy, who would have thought that Bernal could look so good cross dressing.
It seems that Y tú mamá también has some gay theme on it, but I am not sure, I have to watch it.!

I enjoyed:
Kissing Jessica Stein
My Summer of Love
Heavenly Creatures by Peter Jackson
Mulholland Drive by David Lynch
Antonia's Line
Wild Reeds - set in 1960's France
Priest (1994) - dark and serious theme
Come Undone (Presque Rien)
These are what I watched but didn't quite like or are very weird, but you could try:
Urbania
The Crying Game (has the IRA I think?)
Gouttes d'eau sur pierres brûlantes (Water Drops on Burning Rocks)
Better than Chocolate (I think it's boring --)
High Art (just OK)
My Own Private Idaho (I didn't like it but seems to be praised by a lot of people)
Mysterious Skin (too dark)
Aimée & Jaguar
Lost and Delirious (boring --)
And these by HK directors (I think): the Wedding Banquet (didn't finish it, thought was cheesy), Happy Together (don't like the plot but the cinematography is great).

The only one I watched was Chasing Amy.
This is a good choice.
I also want to include Zerophilia but technically it doesn't meet your demand of "one main homosexual relationship in the film". You should still see it though, cause it's surprisingly good and it dwells on people's sexuality and finding love no matter what sex you are.

Well since it's not anime or manga related, you should move this to the Adult section then...

Just because someone's head was chopped off doesn't mean they're dead. That's just silly.

"The King and the Clown"
Historical Korean movie with homosexual themes. It won awards for the year it was produced in. I liked it a lot, and people would like it even if they don't like kdrama.

Only one film I've seen was specifically dealing with homosexuals (that I remember at least) was But I'm a Cheerleader. Some bits were campy at times, more than just a few actually. The acting's alright I guess, but it seemed like it was coming from a teen movie that was just trying too hard.
I wouldn't see it again, but I'm rarely willing to sit through another viewing of any movie.
