I don't know what that response is about, but...
It's how that shop obviously thinks of you, and the rest of their customers. It's certainly how they treat you ...as should be obvious, was my point.

I can't fathom how people can be so inconsiderate to not return the cart. Worse still are the ones that actually bring it all the way home only to discard it there. I've seen employees being sent to scour the neighbourhood to retrieve these carts.
