The damsel in distress kind of girl, who CONSTANTLY need to be protected and just can't stand for herself. Who possesses zero amount of back bone! God, do I just loathe those kind of characters! Guys seem to find it endearing or whatever, but to most girls (at least girls which i know), they find it disgusting and fake. not to mention we absolutely put on!
Another cliche which gets to me is when the main female character gets into a situation where it is misunderstood by her boyfriend/love interest with another main male character who is in love with her but totally unrequited! It's just.... Just.. WE KNOW YOU'RE GONNA GET TOGETHER AND IT"S NOT REAL! JUST GET ON WITH IT!!
I agree.. these are two of worst in my opinion.. and the whole frail, can't decided who I should be with, completely indecivise ones.
I know what you mean..... 3 hot guys fawning over a girl, and she CAN'T DECIDE!!! Oh, just do them all and get it over with. 🤢

Cliche but I almost always like it
when the guy towers over the girl usually squishes her between a wall, maybe threatening her, but oh gosh I think it's sexy. ^w^
Dislike love triangles almost always, are they really that common?

Oh yeah, I agree 😀

Well, they have an in-built drama and the mangaka doesn't have to wreck his/her head about the plot. The eternal 'who's she gonna choose?' question is pretty much a good base for a manga, right?

But we already KNOW who he's gonna choose. >:-( It's always the character who she had her eyes for first.

I'm sure this has been said A LOT (considering that 90% of shoujo is like this) the weak, dumb, pretty girl who- completely lacks common sense- falls all the time and ends up falling for the prince of the school or vis versa. Sometimes it is entertaining, but seriously, it gets sooo old I just can't take it anymore. I've definitely distanced myself from those types of shoujo and gone for the more diverse minority of shoujo.

Hmm. The sweet virgin eats-alot heroine. Agh I've seen it so much. Fuushigi Yuugi, for one. Miaka is so annoying! I want a heroine who is a total bad ass for once, and like, a bad ass bishounen too. Sounds good to me.

aargh i hate weak heroines.. they should all be gathered and thrown off a cliff.. geez i hate when the guy ALWAYs has to protect the girl .. seriously girlfriend get a frikkin backbone and defend yourself for once (hatsumi from hot gimmick .. u know i m talkin to you) I hate the pretty but dumb heroines ...but i still really like shoujo and the generic happy ending.. but its better if theres a lot of conflict before hand and if the story is original.. but i have noticed that most shoujos have elements of the cliche in them.. sighs okies i ll get off my soapbox now 😁
I reject your reality and substitute it with my own... 😀

The 'oh my gosh. she shouted at me whom all girls love so she must be different from the rest. She's interesting and I am going to play with her.'
blah blah blah. drama ensues. (usually sprinkled with smut)
And the prince of school and the 'different' girl gets together in the end.
THAT'S cliche. -.-

As much as I love shoujo, the one cliche that gets me the most is when the rival (or someone who is associtated with the rival) cheats to win a contest.
Example: Madoka from Full Moon in Ch 6. also in Glass Mask, the men who wrecked Tsukikage Theater's car and set (under the director of Udaine Theater's orders) so they would get bigger roles and Udaine Theater would win the National Drama Contest.
Also, I'm also bugged the preverted boy cliche ....but it can be funny as well.
I read so much mangas, I'm too lazy to watch anime! 😛 😛 😛

I think the perverted boy cliche is the bestest 😀 like in Moe Kare, I love Arata so much 🙂
Is the cheating thing really just a shoujo cliche? I would imagine it happens alot in shounen too.

The loser boy a common theme in romance shounen. It sucks just as much. No matter what the main character's gender, he/she needs to not be a loser.

This the one that's driving me absolutely bonkers at the moment. Why are so many of the heroines such idiots? I get that the tutoring scene is a cute plot device and all, but how about more manga where the guy's barely passing/outright failing and the girl's at the top of the class? It seems to be either they're both tops (but the guy tends to be slightly better) both lousy, or the guy's the best student in Japan and the girl needs three retakes before she scrapes by. (Yes, I'm exaggerating, but not by much for lots of these mangas.) The only exception that I've seen lately is Perfect Girl Evo-and even then she doesn't like math (gah, stereotypes-why do the three smart girls dislike math?) Why not a mange where they're both average/good/not fabulous students? I think CCS may be the only one I can remember.
It's kind of sad 'cause I can think of a dozen brilliant girls in shounen/seinen, so why doesn't it seem to cross over?

Yah. In real life, no insanely hot guy with top notch grades would fall for an idiot =.=

Well some would, but in my experience many of their motives tend to be less than pure-and don't improve with time, or they get fed up with the girl's lack of brains and dump her.
I'd just love to see more shoujo where the girl is smarter (or better at academics if you want to split hairs-but usually she's got less sense and fewer brains) than her love interest. I can think of a very small handful- and even then that's when the boy is played up as a total delinquent.
