Will move this to Chatter Box.

I check the profile.
If there's nothing there, I try not to speculate too much.

If I get curious I normally just look
at their profile. If it's not posted then
I don't bother pondering about it. I
don't bother guessing with names.

My instinct at first, and then eventually I find a post they made that makes it obvious about their gender (i.e. tone of their posts.) Though usually I don't try to figure it out, since gender isn't a big deal ^^

I look at the avatars which is a bad idea because they are misleading. Like with the really girly ones or those with bishies you'd assume the member was female, but no...coughDoc =p

After looking at the avatar I check their profile, if gender is unknown then they are 'female' until proven otherwise. 3:

If the picture is a guy/girl, then he/she must be a guy/girl

Mine's a monkey...what does that make me? XDD

Going with the "is it male or female" system, since the monkey has no penis, it must be a girl, and you must be a girl. In this case, it worked. Often, it's wrong.

I don't define people a gender until they specifically state their gender in either a picture of themselves, in a profile or in a post.

I just call everyone 'dude'.

My current avatar matches my gender, though I've used favorite female characters in other forums, so those can be very misleading. I've never been curious as to the gender of anyone enough to browse a profile.

I divide my forum users instead by those who can type, and those who use net-speak.

I look at the profile if I can be asked. If gender isn't specified, I just guess from what they write in their posts. Knowing the gender of people isnt a necessity for me though.

Avatars and signatures are misleading. Don't guess through them. I'm sure many have done so with me and assume I'm male, even though I've put that I'm female in my profile xD nevermind nevermind. I'm so used to it 🤣 it's the price to pay to have ecchi signatures D:

I remember when I first joined, doc had some avatar that made it pretty obvious to me that he was a guy. 🤣 I must have joined at the right time.

First I naturally check what their profile says.
Then I check the username.

Then I read their posts to see if the info is
bullshit.

Then I check their avatars/signatures for yaoi
and shoujo.

I usually make assumptions based on the avatar or sig. But if I'm curious, I check the profile. Sometimes it's by the tone of their posts though.
