Hi y'all, I am looking for (preferably Seinen) manga that is similar to these titles I have read before in terms of plot depiction and setting.

  • Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite
  • Tales of Craftsmen from Kanda Gokurachou
  • Usuzumi no Hate
  • Futatsu no Spica
  • Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!
  • Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
  • Girls' Last Tour
  • Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou
  • Mushishi
  • Dungeon Meshi
  • A Bride's Tale
  • The Apothecary Diaries

I prefer manga with little to no romance that focuses more on the plot and setting that the author has created. I do prefer stories rooted in reality, but SciFi is a very close second, as seen by Usuzumi no Hate and Nausicaä and Dungeon Meshi.

Does anyone have recommendations for manga that fits this list of manga I really like?

Oddly enough, I also REALLY like Dr Stone, but more for the premise as a whole realism in the science depicted rather then the plot or the characters.

If there is a word for this type of Seinen manga, please let me know.

You have a nice mix of slice-of-life, historical, and sci-fi/fantasy. I wonder if you will like these:

Historie

Ryuu no Kawaii Nanatsu no Ko: collection of short stories from the same author of Dungeon Meshi.

Omoide Emanon

Boku Dake ga Inai Machi

Natsume Yuujinchou: reminiscent of mushishi

Planetes, has an anime if you prefer that too.

Seirei no Moribito is listed as a shonen, but has great world building and character development. Has an anime and is based on a novel if you prefer that too.

i share some favorites on your list and so i hope this recommendation lands well! i’m currently reading Fool Night by Kasumi Yasuda: “In a future where the sun is blocked by clouds and plants are the dominant life form, humanity faces extinction. To survive, humans can be converted into plants, a process that provides oxygen but raises ethical questions. The story centers on Toshiro Kamiya, who must decide between saving his family and saving himself.” it’s available on the VIZ app if you happen to have that subscription!
