If I were to believe in God's existence, I would need an exact definition of what god is.
Let's say God is a white haired old looking Caucasian man with the power to create miracles, and who was responsible for creating everything we know that exists. Then I would need proof that all of those things exist or are true. So I would need to see the white haired old guy, I would need to see him perform a miracle (with absolute evidence that it isn't a trick) and absolute evidence that that old man created the world. I have no idea how anyone could provide those things, but if they did, I would believe that God under that definition of God (but not necessarily the god of any one religion) exists.

The end

If by God you mean the usual one supreme being who is the creator and ruler of our university.

Right...

At least that explains why the tuition is so darn high.

ROFL! I should of proof read it I meant universe. 😀

Position: Tin foil hat wearer.

Tough call. I do believe there are higher forms of life out there than ourselves but frankly I'm not inclined to worship aliens. I imagine it is impossible to convince me aliens don't exist altogether.

well, unless god appeared and told me there were 50 handsome men in heaven waiting just for meXD

why people always make a thread like this??
..and the mods end up locking it.

i neither believe or don't believe in the existence of god. Everything happens because ourselves, human. God exists bcause human need something/someone to depend on. For me, god lay within us. We choose, we decide, we create.. I am my own god. If something bad happen, it's because of the result of my own action, not because of Jesus or other deities punish me.
I would believe if God exists, if He appears in front of me. So far... none, even a ghost. But I won't deny He doesn't exist too. What proof I have to say if god really exist or not??

Position: Strongly Agnostic, Strongly Theist.

I'm not part of any church, and do not subscribe to any particular religion. I simply "believed" in the existence of God from as far back as I can remember.

I'm strongly agnostic, because not only do I think that the existence of God is unknowable, I don't think Humans will ever be able to definitively prove or disprove the existence of God.

What it would take for me not to believe: Deliberate reconfiguration of my brain or my death. No argument or experience will change my mind on this.

Some people are simply hardwired to have faith. I am one of those people.

Faith does not require science or even logic to sustain itself.

Supposing I believe that "God" is above the confines of science/logic, how then can one disprove God's existence using science or even logic?

Weak atheists don't have a problem with me, because they don't feel strongly about the subject. They just lack a belief in God or gods.

Strong Atheists have a hard time with me, because they believe that God and/or gods can't possibly exist. Frankly, I think they are as stubborn as those extremist, hardcore conservative religious zealots they love to hate on. The "supernatural" by definition can't be proven or disproven by natural sciences and logic.

I'm not an atheist, but I don't follow any organised religion either. My beliefs are... quite different.

What would make me believe/disbelieve is the same thing: Irrefutable proof. If somebody flat out proved that there is a God, or that my beliefs are wrong, then I will probably change my stance. It's a moot point anyway, because stuff like this just can't be proven. There's no way to prove whether there's an afterlife or not. Well, not unless of course God descends from the heavens and starts smiting people, but that's never gonna happen.

my position is confused? o.O for me i think there may be a "God" but only because there is one it doesn't mean that i worship him. If i was given some hardcore evidence like actually seeing him, seeing him performing miracles then i might change my mind. i would need actual facts and evidence besides the bible, lets face it if i grab a pencil and write in the word "cat" it becomes part of the bible. but if i was given actual proof i would thank him for giving life but i would probably still not worship.

Yeah can't think of anything to make me believe in a higher power, maybe if I have an afterlife, but at that point believing in a god/gods is a worthless point anyway so why even bother.

Note that I am not attacking you, your beliefs or your right to them, but this is a really stupid statement. You just basically said that you will believe in something no one can prove and that "logic" has less validity than faith? That makes absolutely no sense.

And as for me, I'm agnostic. Don't believe, but I am open to the possibility. To make me believe I would just need to be given absolute, indisputable proof that God exists. But understand this; I would still live MY life MY way. When it comes to moral decisions I think it makes someone a better person if they do something good and are NOT religious. Religious people base their decisions off of what the Bible says or what God says. When they are faced with a tough situation they don't need to figure out how to react on their own. All they have to do is go to the Bible and follow what it says to do. Non-religious people have only who they are as a person and how they feel to base their decisions off of. Depending on what they think is right or wrong they are either good or bad. Religious people feel that if they follow the Bible (or it's equivalent) they can't possibly make bad decisions even if someone is hurt while the non-religious are accountable for EVERY choice they make because they made those choices on their own.

I do not believe in a god, I find it highly unlikely and illogical for one to exist.
I am no atheist however. Being an atheist would mean to claim to have knowledge about something you can't have knowledge of, which is illogical. So agnostic it is then.
There is no rational way to claim the existence or non-existence of a god like existence. As I said however, I find it highly unlikely for one to exist.
If one does exist, it would likely be something along the lines of Spinoza's god.
