Any Kurt Russel movie.

With the exceptions of Death Proof, Escape From New York, and Big Trouble In Little China of course. 😛

Without stating the more obvious ones, my choices would be:

Redrum
Blood & Chocolate
The Forbidden Kingdom

And some others I'd rather not remember.

High School Musical, My god, anybody watching that crap has to be brain dead. Also the latest SAW movies, dude, they like have no plot anymore.
By the way, I did NOT watch the HSM movie, but with the previews I had enough repulsion to start hating it. >:-(

The Marksman starring Wesly Snipes... (most Snipes movies....)
Will Ferrel movies, Nepolean Dynamite (again... movies by John Heder) --- worse yet, that ice skating movie with the two of them...

King Kong by Peter Jackson --- was a great dissapointment. When I saw it in theatres (not opennig day 🙂 ) with my friends, we came out thinking it wasn't too bad but by the time we walked to the car we had picked apart every scene for plot errors and poor technique...

zomg..That is so TRUE. It scarred me for life.

Just wondering, why do some people hate Will Ferrel's movies? 😕

Ninety percent of all remakes should be avoided, especially those of foreign films.

The only good movie I've seen with Will Ferrell and will probably ever like is Stranger Than Fiction. I don't like any of his other movies because I just don't think he is funny.

Movies to avoid?

All Van Damme - same story over and over again.
All Steven Seagal, I mean ALL.
Ben Stiller movies - stupid and disgusting doesn´t mean funny.
Twilight - the acting was so bad that made the story ok by comparison.
American Psyco
Borat
House of Wax
Will Farrell movies
...

Will Ferrell's good movie was Stranger than Fiction (and Anchorman, in mine and many other people's opinions), and Ben Stiller was great in The Royal Tenenbaums. No one dare say "Adam Sandler movies", because I will direct you to Click and Punch-Drunk Love.

Now, a lot of people aren't really listing "movies to avoid like the plague". A lot of movies listed are actually liked by other people and if someone takes this thread seriously, they will miss out on some entertaining films they could have watched. This thread got de-railed so fast. The point is to list ones that are really so horrible they need to be avoided, not some you don't really like, or find overrated, or HAVE'NT EVEN SEEN.

Elektra was horrible. There is virtually no way anyone can like Zoom. Transformers wasn't even bad, but the sequel Revenge of the Fallen was so bad!

American Psycho isn't even bad. High School Musical is harmless and not as painful as people make it out to be. Be thankful you're not watching Camp Rock.

Jack. Don't be fooled by the fact that it was directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The whole movie is an unfunny, awkward, overly sentimental exploration of themes that Big (with Tom Hanks) did far better.
Watch instead: Big

Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. I'm gonna get stabbed, but it needs to be said. Ace Ventura is stupid, vulgar, mean-spirited, and just not very funny. I can take Jim Carrey's antics. Hell, the guy's actually pretty damn funny. But when you don't put a good story in there his characters are just unlikable and grating on the nerves.
Watch instead: Liar Liar. Much funnier, more heartwarming Jim Carrey movie.

Antichrist. I can handle pointless torture porn. I actually enjoyed Hostel, Saw, and even the Human Centipede on some level. But torture porn masquerading as genuine art? No. You're not fooling anybody Lars von Trier.
Watch instead: The Virgin Spring. It may be old and in Swedish, but it is a far subtler (but not less shocking) horror film about religious faith.

The Mummy Returns. The first one was actually sort of fun in a dumb kind of way. This one's just cheesy, unconvincing, and dull.
Watch instead: Raiders of the Lost Ark, a film that The Mummy movies are desperately trying to imitate. Hasn't been a better adventure film since.

Always. Wait it's a Steven Spielberg film with Richard Dreyfuss, Holly Hunter, John Goodman, and Audrey Hepburn!? Why haven't I heard of this!?!? Oh, there's a reason. The movie sucks. It's dull, sentimental hogwash from one of America's most talented filmmakers. Without a doubt Spielberg's worst outing as director. Yes, it was worse than Hook.
Watch instead: A Guy Named Joe, the movie that Always was based on.

Braindead. Before Peter Jackson made Lord of the Rings, he made this. Its one merit is that it has some very creative gore effects. But the rest of the movie is just dull, unfunny, and poorly made.
Watch instead: The Evil Dead, a much funnier, more creative splatter film than Braindead.

Death Proof. The one dark spot on Quentin Tarantino's career. All of the actors except Kurt Russel seem to be dead, and the film is so utterly slow. The one bright spot is an amazing car chase at the end. Skip to that, you ain't missing much.
Watch instead: Jackie Brown, Tarantino's most underrated film. It is slow, but the dialogue is fantastic, the plot is absorbing, and the actors are fantastic (especially Robert De Niro, playing against type). Tarantino's most realistic film, and one of his best.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Worst of the series. Overlong, predictable, and follows the exact same formula as the last one. Just glad they kicked out Chris Columbus for Azkaban.
Watch instead: Time Bandits, a delightful fantasy by Terry Gilliam, who was originally going to make the Harry Potter series. Gives you an idea of what could have been.

Salo. The overbearing violence, sex, and torture fogs up any message Pasolini might be trying to convey. Definitely an exercise in audience endurance, with Pasolini seeming to get off on his images rather than inform us about fascist-era Italy.
Watch instead: Funny Games. Similar to Salo, but far more intelligent, bringing up a variety of questions for the audience to ponder as they watch. Showing most of the violence off-screen also helps to make the movie more terrifying, and help the audience to think more about what they are (and aren't) seeing.

Superbad. Something about this movie just didn't click for me. I think it was mostly because I hated the characters so much. I mean, it was funny, but I just didn't care about what happened to these guys.
Watch instead: The 40 Year Old Virgin. Judd Apatow comedy that has a much more likable lead.

The Matrix and The Matrix Reloaded. The stunts and martial arts are pretty cool. Everything else is just awful. All of the actors seem to be phoning it in, with the exception of the magnificent Hugo Weaving (and I use that term relatively), the pseudo-philosophy is grating to listen to and sounds like it's coming out of the mouth of a freshman philosophy major who's still having trouble theororizing the location of his own ass in relation to the rest of his body, and the somewhat interesting premise is marred by a horrible script filled with glaring holes and an insistence on showing us 15-minute action sequences as opposed to telling us a coherent story. Couldn't even sit through The Matrix Revolutions.
Watch instead: Bound. The Wachowskis' first film, a sizzling neo-noir that mixes genres and keeps you engaged from beginning to end. Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon are wonderful leads.

Watchmen. Snyder translates the images from the comic faithfully, but by trying to stick so close to the source material he makes a movie that's hard to comprehend or care about. Everything feels very rushed, just trying to get to the next event within the 2 and a half hour running time, not leaving the characters any room to breathe. And what's with the over-stylized fight scenes? The whole point is that these are just regular people, not superhumans. Most of the fight scenes are ridiculous and over-done, and lose that realistic feel that the movie is trying to get across.
Watch instead: Blade Runner. Similar in style, superior in content, Blade Runner wraps its philosophy in a story and characters that we can actually latch onto and care about.

Zoolander. Another one of those cult classics that I just never got. I suppose it would be funny if the characters weren't so annoying and one-dimensional.
Watch instead: Tropic Thunder, a far better film from director-writer-star Ben Stiller. Wittier and more entertaining than Zoolander, with more well-rounded characters, an actual plot, and a hilarious performance by Robert Downy Jr.
