I was in that Earthquake. I live directly west of it. I have friends on the east coast who are still missing. My entire prefecture went without power for over 24 hours. I have more friends who are at risk from the nuclear plant exploding. My phone and internet were down for over 48 hours so I couldn't even call my family to tell them I'm ok. I have walked those destroyed streets in Sendai. Frankly, I am slightly disheartened by the number of people who's concern lies with manga releases. Thousands of people died! I know it's easy to b detached when you live on the other side of the world, but you could at least have the decency to pretend to care.

EDIT: Ok, I will concede that people who have sympathy for the situation but feel more attached to Mangaka are heartless for that, I admit that I too have been in that situation. My main point is that, as someone affected by the earthquake, who is worried sick about friends in Awate, Miyagi and Fukushima, as someone who lives in the affected area, with every body found I think "Is that one of my friends?". Seeing on the news places you frequently went to destroyed, it's shocking. So forgive me if it is hard to hear that some people care more about manga releases. If you do indeed feel some sympathy, then I forgive you for it. If you don't; I really don't want to know about it.

I live in southern Japan at the moment, far from the eye. I didn't actually realize it at first, as the tremor was so small I thought it was only my body shaking or something. I realized it was a earthquake a few seconds before it stopped. And even after that, I just went to bed and sleep. Never realized it was a huge earthquake until my family back home skype'd me. Not really feeling the tension, I guess. 🙂

I live in SKorea and we're fortunate enough to have virtually no sismic activity. A lot of my friends live or stay in Japan, I got in touch with most of them, but there is still one friend I didn't manage to get in touch with and I'm worried.
For the rest of them who most of them live in Tokyo, other issues are starting from now. Food and water supplies are getting scarce, most of conbini and local supermarket are empty. Transportations are still hetic. Phone service is intermitent, as well as electricity in some areas of Tokyo.
And there's still the threat of nuclear damages.
I'll kept being worried until everything is back to normal.

Hmmm I wonder by "I know someone..." can be consider as online friends and utaites living there (.__.) because I'm voting that. I feel like I do know them since I'm stal-- follow them on Twitter. It's so suffocating, this tragedy!

I know a family who affected, foster parents of my friend, they are at the refuge right now. I want to help them but dunno how 🙁 (
