don't think Japanese forum will be much of a use here. though it's a manga database, it's in English and make for English-speakers, so doubtful someone will really care and post in such section. those who want to talk Japanese can find much more ways to use it. but idea is great, maybe if we grow in numbers something will work out.

Nice to meet mewarmo990!! I <3 Mangaupdates as well. I tell everyone about this place since it is also where I go to find raws and get information about different raws.
As for a Japanese forum, I think you can find many small thread dedicated to learning Japanese in bigger scanlation forum (I see them in Shoujo and Shounen scanlation groups).
You are the second person who I know have mention about this kind of idea. Maybe someone will make a languages forum one day 😀 . I know Esthetique has a Japanese conversation thread where one of the translator gives Japanese lesson when she has time (haha I only know because I have visited the thread and try to learn from it as well as being a staff there XD).
If you find yourself with free time, maybe you can drop by Esthetique and take part in our Japanese conversation thread.

No, but just from a glance at the material I know I can easily ace JLPT 4 through 2, but I have no information about level 1 so I don't know about that one. Kanji would be fine at least, since fluency in Chinese means that I know more characters than the average Japanese person, though in different usages. I am taking the AP Japanese Language test this year - the main thing that needs work is my essay writing. I'm curious; are there oral or written portions on the JLPTs?
