New Poll - Bad Rereads

This week's poll was suggested by jacob66. Assuming you reread some series, do you have those rose-colored glasses on in your memory? I feel it happens more often with stuff you've experienced as a child. Your young self didn't know any better and didn't have as many good comparisons, so too many things were considered "good." Then when you re-experience it as an adult, you get less pleasure out of it.

Previous Poll Results:
Question: Do you floss?
Choices:
Never - votes: 1188 (30.1%)
Rarely - votes: 1238 (31.4%)
Every few days - votes: 592 (15%)
Once a day - votes: 766 (19.4%)
After every meal - votes: 162 (4.1%)
There were 3946 total votes.
The poll ended: May 23rd 2020
I remember seeing an AskReddit asking older redditors what they would like to tell younger redditors. One of the more common answers was to floss daily and take care of your teeth because dental replacements aren't the same as real teeth.

As long as you see a dentist regularly, you don't need to floss much to avoid dental replacements.
People 50+ in the US grew up seeing a dentist only when their teeth hurt. So we get a ton of dental propaganda thanks to boomers who think "oh if ONLY I had flossed!" when in reality they should've just had cavities filled sooner.
As for the new poll, never. In the first place, it's incredibly rare for me to go back and re-read a series, but I've never been remotely disappointed by doing so.

Some weeks ago I reread Yakusoku no Neverland and today I came to bad realisation about it's plot 😔

Not a reread, but a rewatch. I tried to catch up with Inuyasha after 10 years, since I never completed it. I couldn't even finish a whole episode. 😢

Seldom, because I reread series only when I really like them, and usually then I find more things to like about them rather than less. My tastes for manga have remained fairly steady over the years...
I have definitely rewatched things that I used to love and found them wanting though. Shinzo was really not as good as seven-year-old me thought it was lmao.
Sometimes. I over-analyze things on first go so I really do a total 180% but my opinion changes all the time in increments so I go with the comfortable middle.
I also read EU/US comics and am a librarian.

I'd say that it's actually more of the reverse for me. Rereading much of the stuff that I brushed off almost a decade ago, I'm actually appreciating a lot of them or understanding them even better.

Doesn't usually happen to me. Most of the stuff i reread turns out either as good as i remember or even better than i remember in some cases. For most manga i read again I actually increased my rating after rereading. Though i answered "Seldom" because sometimes i realize that my tastes changed since i first time read something and it doesn't seem as good when i reread it years later, but that is rare.
P.S. to be fair usually I increase rating not because i liked it more after rereading, but because if I reread it in full it made quite an impression on me that i wanted to reread it... Some mangas made such an impression on me i have read them more than 5 times, those are 10/10 for sure for me...

Usually I don't enjoy a series ever again once I finish it. After realising that, I stopped re-reading/re-watching. Exception: If a series I've already read, like a web novel, is adapted to another format, like light novels .. manga .. anime .. live-action, then I don't mind re-reads/re-watches because the creators/editors/producers always make some changes to the original story.

Sometimes. When I first started reading manga there were a lot of series that impressed me. As I read more, I started to realize that a lot of the series I liked were actually pretty cliche.

Sometimes. It goes both ways, I've found. Some things you thought were the best don't seem that good once you realise there are better versions out there, yes. But it happens the other way 'round, too. Later takes on the same concept are sometimes just not as good, perhaps cos the new creator misunderstood the core of what made the original version so excellent, maybe for some other reason.

It hasn't happened yet. I re-read series somewhat often but I never got into standard shonen nor standard romcoms, which tend to age poorly. Sometimes I end up liking them more as I can understand more of the jokes that I might have missed in my youth.

The stuff I would probably be disappointed in with a reread is not something I would actually reread! So, sorry, old shoujos I used to adore, same with some shounen.
The things I actually reread, few as they are, or rewatch, is stuff that I enjoyed in the later years, not my teenage years.
So yeah, answer is never. Actually rewatched Arielle once, and I remember actually regretting watching it.

Dude the inuyasha anime is trash compared to the manga. It went full on monster of the week for most of it, meanwhile the manga stuck to a natural plot flow. Just read the manga, it's long since been fully scanlated... the anime never even got past the first 2/3 of the manga anyway.
