There's not really enough information included with the statistics to use them. Most obviously, 'infidelity' itself isn't defined - how many of the respondents actually had sexual intercourse with someone other than their partner, as opposed to emotional connection, phone sex, hugging, kissing, being attracted to someone else, scoping out dating sites, whatever? Of course none of it is ideal, but if a middle-aged man once kissed a girl other than his girlfriend when he was a teenager and drunk at a party, that's different than if he had sex on 85 occasions with women other than his wife. If a woman has a crush on the cashier at the grocery store and flirts with him whenever she's at the checkout, it's different than if they were having physical contact. Even if we took 60% as the 'true' number, it still doesn't mean much.

As for the 'if you would never get caught' percentage... yea. I don't interpret this the same way you do. Cheating some without getting caught isn't hard, so people would just do it if they truly wanted to. Rather this type of question asks people to imagine an unrealistic scenario of blamelessness and guiltlessness and then provide a realistic answer, and since I'm a pragmatic girl, I don't like that type of thing.

From personal experience, YES! and without the romantic part of it. My best friend is a Guy, and we've known each other for 12 years now. Maybe at some point in our 12 year relationship we probably both thought about each other in a romantic way, but I believe that times has passed a long time ago, he's happily with another person and I enjoy being single. We talk to each other like how friends talk to each other. Not just that, his girlfriend is completely comfortable with me and doesn't care that her boyfriend's best friend is a girl. Also in the past he's dated 2 of my best friends in which ended in them not talking to each other anymore, but I'm still good friends with them. Sounds impossible but it's possible. But believe me lots of drama! lol
