What I think that could be done was to create a separate section in the website which would deal with the light novels. For example, there could be a new menu on the right (between "Releases" and "Scanlators") called "Novel releases" or something like that.

Probably not that hard to make, it wouldn't cause major changes in the website's layout and we could maintain our lists without needing another website, or another complications.

I would love this! It is really getting confusing, and I don't come here for novels, which are composed entirely of words (duh!) and so are susceptible of being spoiled by poor translation—which is common.

I think the faster solution is to add a "Type Filter" in User CP.

And I wish the same could be done for webtoons. I read both light novels and webtoons (though the majority of what I read always has, and always will, be manga/manhwa/manhua), but honestly, the lack of distinction between these 3 very distinct media is getting annoying.

Having a filter would appease both the users who only want to see manga and the explosively growing population using MU for tracking novels and their manga adaptions. MU is still by far the best tracking site, so please don't remove novels altogether. 😔

Hopefully the filter can be applied site-wide, so people who want to see the top manga can use Series Stats.

I agree that there should be a more prominent message on the front page or releases page, so people know how to filter novels out with that function.

I made script for Greasemonkey(Tampermonkey on Chrome) about this, so feel free to use it if you want. It will split manga and novel releases onto their own columns.

Script link here

Custom releases page script for Mangaupdates

Customises the regular releases page on Mangaupdates by splitting the releases into two different groups (Novel, Manga).

Also allows users to hide/show the content on releases page too. (novels, manga and oneshots)
