Nonono, definitely not rape but still terrible. I don't really rage about it... it was too obvious and predictable but still... he's a bastard. And this only confirms it.

Still find this more tolerable than the KNIM bullshit.

Boring development, it was pretty obvious after all. And Utsumi is probably the biggest retard in whole history of manga.

Nah, he's actually in some ways a decent representation of a teenage boy, most of whom have no idea how to deal with thier own damage and scars, let alone how to help out a girl they like with theirs. While his reaction was wrong (and has been many times before) a lot of what he does is very understandable given his immature and inexperienced nature.

Whoa, what a thorough response, however, I think that the foundation of your thinking is wrong. You generalize "teenage boy". I would like to say that although you may be right, that nowadays their overall performance is pretty poor (blame the parents, lol), it isn't like that for everyone. Utsumi seems to be at the bottom of an average teenager when it comes to love, wit or discernment. And I would rather want him not to be a "teenage boy" but a character that has at least one special feature that makes him different from "somebody".

After having read so many mangas I can say without a doubt that mangakas LOVE stupid main characters. Ultimately, if they were smarter, it wouldn't take them 30 volumes to get laid!
I know it and I understand it, stupid main is more chapters, more chapters is money, money is indeed useful... but Utsumi. Hello?! This guy (let's be honest) is either mentally retarded, or EXTREMELY inexperienced - it's as if he was Yoichi from Asu no Yoichi! but the difference between them is that Utsumi is still in the mountains.

Agreed, you'd think they would want to make a character that's actually likeable.

Yeah, I wasn't that affected by this chap. I was just annoyed that the mangaka used this old cliche (and used a whole chap to elaborate on what most have already guessed)

Also, I think ppl are being a little too hard on Utsumi. He had his own assumptions about why Yuki kept stonewalling him and being hung up on Tooru, but I'm sure none of them included something like this. What else was there for him to say that Yuki hadn't already heard? I'm sure he wanted to say something, but imagine if you had just found out that something so traumatic had happened to the love of your life. How do you react? If you console them it would feel like your patronizing them. If you don't you seem like a bastard.

Of course, judging by her reaction, I'm sure Yuki wanted him to say something, but Utsumi's just now getting his act together. It would be OOC for him to be all manly now.

i dont think that the filming was the worst part,i think that what really made her feel bad was that he only did with her cause of a bet and she really liked him.the video was just like a proof of how"stupid" she was for acting according to her feelings.like when you rub salt in a wound

poor her,but it still it wasnt rape

"filming wasnt the worst part?"....u obviously live in the world of paris hilton and kim kardishan.....asians like to keep it in their rooms not on millions of laptop screens!!!

i guess that conservative part of the society which still exists in South east asia , saudi neighbourhood, and japan is what separates it from the world of hugh hefner and co...

Well it's unusual for shounen, but it actually happens in shoujo a lot more (go figure). As for seinen the 2 manga I can think of w/ similar events would be Bitter Virgin and Chisa x Pon.

😐 The link being victimized women. They're all in slightly different settings and circumstance but yeah... much more of a shoujo thing... The mangaka is a female if that explains anything 🤨

you really can't say that chisaxpon or bitter virgin are similar since that was rape video taping and showing is bad completely messed up but at least yuki was not raped

i stopped reading this when chapter 16 came out and i'm quite sure that there was a panel showing this "recorded sex" thingy in those first few chapters. you could see it coming, nothing out of the blue

whether it's a legit twist for a shounen i don't know. imo it would be more fit for seinen/josei but i don't understand the japanese concept of how to categorise manga to a certain demography

shounen/shoujo are made for a younger audience mid-teens and children best instances are pokemon, naruto and furuba and seinen/josei are made more for adults it does not have to have mature content but is something that appeals more to adults
