hmm... maybe more of a description will help so I'm just gonna take a wild stab in the dark here...

Wild adapter- sounds perfect
Vassalord- less so, but still has pretty cool leads.
Loveless- if you can stand the fact the protagonist is quite young (probably a little to much so for my taste), it seems to fit quite nicely. The main character in Loveless reminds me of the main protagonist in Nabari no ou.

Hmmm, well here are some things you might like~

Dakishimetakunai (Stories 4-5)
-Young man raised to be an emotionless assassin partners up with a shinigami who becomes powerful when need be.

Yami no Matsuei
-Hisoka, a cold, social withdrawn 16 year old, ends up being a parter for work with a seemingly goofy man who turns out to be crazy powerful when Hisoka is in danger. Really recommend this one, also has shinigami, pure coincidence.

Koori no Mamono no Monogatari
-A heartless demon is freed from his prison by a naive young man he falls in love with. The demon seems cool but is powerful when his love interest is in trouble. Really cute story, but long.

Three Wolves Mountain
-A werewolf falls in love with a grave keeper. The grave keeper is a rather cold man, and the werewolf displays special powers when the other's life is in danger.

Yurusareta Uta
-Has a demon that protects a weapons dealer who is cold.

Beast in the Tower
-Has a were(wolf?) that is cared for by his partner, a young servant boy.

Tokyo Babylon
-Be warned, really, really depressing ending.
