I'd rather Beelzebub did not become a successor. It already turned to shit after the first few chapters when it became another generic shonen fighter. It had some great clever stuff going on at first, but that wasn't to be.

I don't currently see any series beating out the top three, but I can see Bleach be the first to lose its place. Though if there were a series I'd love to see be in the top three, that's Mahou Sensei Negima. It turned so completely badass after chapter 120-150-ish, that I am saddened people would prefer Bleach over it.

what i really wonder is which will end first bleach or naruto thier both about 2/3 done. anyways i think the one that'll take whichever ends place will be a new series something a bit more futuristic with aleins and space travel with the hero starting off on earth

Wow so many responses 🙂
Some good titles there... personally i never got into Negima but i see i'm not the only one who has a personal favorite among the second liners like Reborn Kekkaishi, Negima, etc. and which he would love to see ascend 😀

Gotta confess i always thought Bleach's place is undeserved... mainly due to the lack of any real development and depth to the fights (powerpup after powerup after... and the ocasional hollow ichigo appearance)

^ Bleach was actually pretty good until the SS arc ended. The whole Hueco/Vaizard thing just drags.

How appropriate you should rhetorically respond as only a politician could in full blubbering parliamentary fury while saying nothing of substance.

Do refute my claim with actual arguments rather than stoop to vague insults. I might just listen then.

They first need to meet a couple of criteria.

1) They must have a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge variety of characters - so, lots and lots and lots of characters!

2) Every character gets his/her own "characterization/flashback" at some time in the manga.

3) It starts light and easy, but as the chapters progress, the plot starts to reveal itself which opens a whole world of possibilities that the mangaka can choose from.

4) Hierarchy, it needs some hierarchy! 🤣

5) "Comedy", with other words lightheartedness, it can't be too serious...

Etcetera.

FullMetal Alchemist

Most probably the next big hit in the size of those three, will come by one of those three author's after finishing there work. However One Piece can go on for a pretty while, and about Naruto we will see.

Though I think, in the case Naruto should really finish in the near futur, the next thing by KISHIMOTO Masashi will become a definitive hit and one reason is just the big Naruto fanbase (also he will probably go with the same style of manga, shonen type, etc.).

The other mentioned series are not bad either (I especially like Beelzebub), but they must not absolutely increase in success due to the absecnes of Naruto or one of the other two.

well i really doubt kishi could pull off another naruto, its one of those once in a lifetime things and depending on how he ends naruto he could never get another success like what happened with the author of ichigo 100%

Well... about him pulling out another naruto?... thats posible you cant rule that out... even if that was the case with his idol Akira toriyama. There are pleny of mangakas that were able to have one hit after the other so... thats posible.

About psyren i didnt name it cuz i dont feel like a clone cant go better that the original and somehow to me Psyten is just like a clone of Gantz ... they both feel like a "game to save".

I havent really had time to read any of the other names u guys posted here. But will do so.

You know... I remembered another series that may get some boost in case one of the big 3 ends.. that is Until Death Do Us Part That thing looks like will go for long, got lots of chars, some funny parts and a kick ass "good guy" + a female cute lead.

Hunter X Hunter is already one of the best selling series in Japan. There's just not enough of the manga to keep pumping out anime episodes on a weekly basis because the mangaka keep taking long breaks.

Fullmetal Alchemist is also pretty well received. It is a good candidate for "successor" to the big 3 because now the anime started over again, indefinitely... meaning there is no set amount of episodes, just like the big 3.

Kekkaishi is also popular... I hope it gains more momentum since it's really awesome and deserves more anime episodes.

It'll be interesting to see which ones do succeed the top 3, though I'm not really sure myself because there are so many good manga out there (in my opinion) its really hard to tell which ones will and which ones wouldn't.

i meant to say that kishi's next manga has very little chance of topping naruto in popularity sure he'll get hits, but i doubt i could become apart of the big three.

hmmn i thought FMA is ending soon.

i swear i'm the only gintama fan and honestly, i don't see how this isn't already one of the top three but whatever. i can't control what people should read/watch.

still, this manga/anime is like the scrubs of manga. though it is generally a comedy, whenever they branch out and try different genres, they do so in the most awesome way. the drama makes you cry, the action makes you cheer, and, or course, the comedy makes you laugh. also, this series satirizes other series. using popular phrases or elements from other series, it great enhances the overall enjoyment of the scene at hand. Dragonbleapiece FTW

moreover, they break the fourth wall. really, for some reason i find it really funny when the characters start to complain about the low budget the anime has and their excuses to waste time before or after the episode. they also make fun of fillers, which i found really funny as well. I mean, come on, in most recent chapters the characters are fighting out because of their positions on the character polls, it's hilarious!

still aside from the funny moments, there are still really awesome, really serious, really great arcs such as the Benizakura Arc, the Yangyu Arc, Yoshinawa Arc, Jiraia Arc, Shinsengumi Arc, Tama Arc, Ryugu-jo Arc and Mitsuba Arc. All just blew my mind and totally worth a read or watch the anime. Gintama is probably the only time i prefer watching the anime over reading the manga.

Really, Gintama has already had the potential to be in this spot and i really hope that more people will understand it's awesomeness. it's always worth a read, always worth a watch, and when you get most of the characters down you can start from anywhere in the anime or manga because the series is episodic. really, if you guys haven't tried this series out before, then do it. you'll be amazed at how amazing it is.

Gintama does have the potential but i think that though it can be seen as quite serious, many see it as a gag manga.

so the most popular contenders are:
D.Gray-Man
Hitman Reborn
Beelzebub
Fairy Tail
Kekkaishi
Hunter X Hunter
Claymore
Fullmetal Alchemist

Claymore and FMA are both monthly so i dont think they really work. if they do, i think we should also consider Kuroshitsuji. that is getting damn popular. so is Soul Eater

Kekkaishi is good but it had a smaller fanbase than the rest of them

Hunter X Hunter should at least get back to weekly serialization

as for Beelzebub, it could go anywhere and end within a year for all we know

i think D.Gray-Man, Hitman Reborn and Fairy Tail are the strongest contenders. D.Gray-Man had a full anime adaption until it was cancelled, Hetman Reborn had a full adaption underway and the Fairy Tail anime was just announced. whether this will be a full adaption is still up in the air for the fans

and besides, chances are that we will get at one of them right 🙂

I think -
Beelzebub
Kekkaishi
HSDK
Psyren
