Hi all! I'm hoping you guys can help me remember a story I've forgotten before I give myself carpal tunnel looking through a million links.

I'm looking for a story that I think was a oneshot, possibly included with a longer story.

I think it's set in a high school, possibly college, and the basic story was that when they were younger the main couple sort of fell into a 'fake' relationship because one of them sort of confessed publically to stop his childhood friend from being bullied? Fast forward to the present and people still think they're a couple, even though the guy who was being protected actually does have feelings for his friend. I think there's some conflict where the guy who did the protecting is oblivious and thinks his friend is interested in someone else (he's not -- he's running interference between another friend and the girl that friend's interested in or something?) and maybe the oblivious guy realizes his friend's feelings but isn't sure of his own?

I think the confession scene involves the oblivious guy forgetting a CD or DVD or something at his friend's house and walking in on him crying. He then proceeds to confess while the other guy's still under the blanket, but they're holding hands.

I've gone through everything under the 'fake relationship', 'pretend lovers' etc categories and I haven't found anything that seems familiar, so any ideas would be very much appreciated!
