New Poll - 3rd Party Recommendations

The scenario spelled out by our member vivant is specific and is as follows. You're the 3rd party observer, and you see other people giving series recommendations to each other, such as in our I'm Looking For... forum (in case you didn't know that existed). Do you ever end up reading those series that are recommended, even though you weren't the original person asking for a suggestion? Any hidden gems that you've discovered that you'd like to share?
You can submit poll ideas here
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903
Previous Poll Results:
Question: When a scanlator leaves a customized message at the end of each chapter (e.g., commentary, next release date, questions, etc.; excluding regular credit or recruitment page) do you read them and/or respond to them?
Choices:
No - votes: 566 (17%)
Never seen them - votes: 69 (2.1%)
Sometimes - votes: 1664 (50.1%)
Yes - votes: 1022 (30.8%)
There were 3321 total votes.
The poll ended: April 26th 2019
Wow, the majority of you do look at them at least sometimes!

Seldom as I know too much about the scene to find worthy new works this way.
Sometimes and seldom should have been sperate choices.
I also read EU/US comics and am a librarian.

^ This. They're two entirely different things, after all. Anyway, I went with that, though I'm more on the sometimes side.

If the series sounds interesting, I'll add it to my backlog.

I add them to my to-read list if they look interesting. The I'm Looking For board is the best.

Seldom
I have read some interesting descriptions on certain occasions and ended giving those mangas a try.

Seems like this might get some mixed results. Like, yeah I seldom read all the manga in the Looking For group because I seldom even open ones with search criteria I'm not interested in. However, I do read a lot of the manga for threads I am interested in

Once again poorly written out choices, also where's the "I don't even read the recommendation forum posts" option?

if its a genre I'm super interested in, but have very little experience in I take posted recs seriously
you can be burned of course; but you'll never improve unless you put yourself out there

The question does not specify where you see other people recommending other series. It only gives an example of a specific forum

Hmmm.......I think what I'd find most interesting about this line of questioning isn't so much do you read "the series that are suggested?" but, as a third party, do you at least look at the suggestions and consider reading them?
"All the time!" I may not read everything I see recommended..........I mean, c'mon, that's a bit much to think as a third party I'd have that many recommendations align with my tastes........but yeah, at least look and entertain the idea of reading what other people recommend? Sure, you bet, try to look at all the recommendation threads here and elsewhere that I have time for and take them under serious consideration. I've found many, many titles that I wouldn't have known about otherwise.

Definitely Seldom for me, but moreso because I don't frequent the "Looking for" forum and I tend to know about way more manga than anyone I know. If I hear someone recommending a manga irl, 90% of the time I've already heard about it and either am already caught up or already know it's not for me.

I like helping people find manga that they're looking for, and sometimes that helps me find things too!
I think read Gokusen because so many people recommended it I was like huh? And despite the art not really being something I would have picked up.
