Manga Burnout

Has anyone ever find yourself tired of a certain genre, and that you've read pretty much everything that is good out there? That you're unconsciously able to spot a cliche miles away, while trying to ignore the familiar feelings of being jaded? If so, how do you get yourself over it?
For me, my interests have moved from shounen to shoujo to shounen-ai, and finally yaoi (gasp!). But lately, I've been going through a period of boredom to the point I usually end up jumping into a new series desperately just to find something interesting (most of the time, it fails). I'm pretty sure this kind of thing will pass over soon as I'm unable to curb my manga addiction, but seems like I'll be in a ditch for awhile. What's your story?
(Also, please excuse any bad grammar, as I'm feeling pretty sleepy right now...)

Sometimes, I just switch the genre for the opposite if it's shounen or shoujo, I don't get tired of seinen though.

At least we're fortunate enough to experience burnout. Many people in the world don't have the luxury of reading manga..... some don't even have food to eat.
Seriously though, if you're fed up.... change the genre, or watch TV, play video-games, read a novel, surf the net, go outside, draw a doodle, masturbate.... Your spoilt for choice, really.
The best option is you give me all your money and I find something for you to do!

That's why I stopped watching Disney movies at the tender age of 6. XD
@tsuto: Yeah, seinen almost never gets old, but I have to be in the mood for it. I can't just wake up, see a seinen release, and read it. There has to be a certain mindset for me. ...I dunno.
@gan17: Wow, if I was in a bad mood, I'd say just about the same thing. O_o
Yeah, I definitely get burned out on it sometimes. I get like that with anything really since I tend to not be able to do things in moderation. Like gan said though, there's a ton things to do so I just do something else for a while.
That's why I rotate my lazy hobbies. I'll gorge myself on manga for a while and get sick of it. Then catch up on a ton of movies or tv until I'm bored again. Then maybe take in a book or get into a game...
Also, to break up the monotony, I like to just cruise the internet and find different programs to learn and play around with. That often leads to emergency maintenence, but I also come across useful tools every so often doing that and it's fun for me.

Yeah, happens to me periodically with most/all of my hobbies. Then I just switch to another one for a while until I get burned out on that one or I have to switch to something that takes time - example would be cooking, I love trying new recipes but there's more of a time commitment involved than there is for reading manga. I have enough interests that it's usually not a big deal, but there are certainly times when I'd like to read manga but there's just nothing that catches my interest.

when I start feeling burned out I typically try to return to the basics. I don't try and find new stuff and I only keep up with releases of manga that I really really like.
I'm just coming off one such period, tracking down all the less good manga that I let slip by. That in itself makes it exciting, I'm treasure hunting - trying not to click on the expired links, avoiding the 10 posts you must make to see a scanlation groups releases.
And I talked with my sister about manga, she is always enthusiastic and willing to see the good in any series. But a serious debate about the future of even the silliest manga makes me want to read some more.
I also found that one shots helped me, there is no commitment, no expectations but every once in a while you find something unbelievably bad, unbelievably good or just plain strange.

Yes it happens, specially since so many mangas get dropped after just a few volumes, get picked up 2, 3 years later only to be shortly dropped again. So really, it's not wonder you find a lot of people who have read the same completed manga as you.
And this can bring about that "manga burnout" feeling, i'm going through it right now actually, what I do is I just stay away from checking new releases and stuff, I just let things pile up so by the time I come back new series are a lot further along and more lengthy manga have been completed.

Erm, even though I have a quite long reading list, I'm not reading everything simultaniously. Many are just on my computer...
I read only stories that seem interesting, and don't go in despair for something new, because that is how I read manga, I like reading thing that are different (from the once I've read before).
Also, with me being vert critical towards the art, it's hard sometimes to find a good read qitrh the good art, so it nerrows down quite a lot of... everything...
If I get a bournout, it will probubly be with every genre there is 🤣 🙄

After reading your comment, I'll add something.
I'm picky at everything, so when I have a hobby or something, I stick to it.
Maybe because I practice my hobbies too much, and that's the same with manga, I read only what I like, and stay with it.
I do have thoughts about not being able to find something good, new, interesting, but my complete list is short, comparing with the length of my reading list, so I have a lot of thing that I'm reading, and I'm find with them, but I still always look for new stuff...
It came out a little messy~
Hrodulf and Bjornolfr, you will not be forgotten.

Well, isn't it? I like some manga far more then I like some of my 'friends'. I have also known some manga longer then people I consider to be good friends. 🤣

i get that way too, when it happens i've haven't really switched the genre more like look for another one i could get into. the cliches don't really matter to me so much as long as i'm entertained or get into it. but when that happens i find it better to have other things to do to take up my time. or switch to the manga alternative being anime lol.

actually i know it sounds crazy since a lot of them tend to be good, but i do get bored with seinen manga from time to time at the same rate i do with shounen. i guess it's cause they can sometimes be to extreme in their areas that it looses it's impact from time to time for both.
