Angel densetsu the artwork is terrible but the story is great, and when i look back at it the artwork matches it well.

I'll second nana to kaoru, the artwork is great, but they manage to make the main character so hideous, but not so much that you don't relate/side with him.

Both Umi no Teppen & Miriam because they were old school...
And Gokusen and now it's one of my all time favorite manga & anime. 😀
