kakashis eyes is a real mangekyou sharingan, he is going blind, since he asked itachi how much of his sight he had already lost, and kakashi had no way of knowing of this side effect if he wasn't suffering from them.... and if you look at the pics of madara's and his brother's mangekyou you will notice that they are diferent from each other and of kakashi's and itachi's as well, meaning the mangekyou looks diferent for each person....
he's right kakashi is going blind that's why itachi was so amazed that kakashi knew the secret
lets skip school
losing the sense of sight when using mange sharingan is like a price to pay in exchange of the power obtained (like naruto´s wind elemental rasengan and kyuubi´s power). Kakashi going blind in one eye would deprive him of the adventages of sharingan, mange sharingan and chidori (requisite for the jutsu to being efective and not so dangerous is sharingan).

Wait, where did you read that he couldn't do Chidori without those eyes? He created the technique without the eyes, and I don't recall ever seeing anything (maybe not in the translations I read) stating the eyes did anything for the technique.
Also, the whole thing with the sharingan is just crazy. It was stated before that they weren't as good as the Byakuugan, or so it stated in the Chuunin exams. Granted, that might have been "In this case" sort of thing, but the point remains. A lot of the stuff stated about these eye techniques have just been blown out of proportion. I also want to know if Itachi can see when he is using the technique, and blind the rest of the time without using the Sharingan? Or is he just going blind completely? It seemed, when they first introduced blindness, that it was only when he wasn't using his sharingan, then later it looked like it was complete. >_<

In the young Kakashi chapters, the fourth tells Kakashi that he can't use Chidori because it moves too fast for him to respond to enemy counters. Eventually he picks up the eye from Obito, and his problem is solved.

he can still use the chidori but as we have seen from the kakashi gaiden story, he has almost no control over it without the sharingan. i suppose he could still hit something if he had his dogs hold down the target but at the level of akatsuki, a chidori without the sharingan is pretty much useless
edit: lol almost same time
