Yeah, I agree about the "take responsibility" line, no matter who it's from.

There are two clichés that really annoy me the most. The first is the uke that looks like a chick with man-tackle. lol. The second is that their roles in the relationship are static. One is always giving, and one is always receiving.

I'm generally easy-going with it though. I mean, if you want to take manga seriously, you shouldn't be reading Yaoi. For sure.

There are clichés that I really like though, such as the fact that if you're gay and in love with a straight man, he will (most of the time) eventually fall in love with you. lol. It's nice to have that unrealistic factor.

But, the cliché that I enjoy the most has to be... All gay men are hot. Yep, there aren't too many Seme's and Uke's in our manga that can't be considered attractive.

There are. Lots of manga have drawing styles I don't like. Therefore the characters look unattractive to me. But I can tolerate that if the storyline is good (Nah, actually I skip anything that doesn't look good to me nowadays unless the story is really, I mean really good and somewhat unusual). Maybe I am just too picky.

How about the "but we're both men" or "I did it, with a man!" or something similar cliche? 🤣 And if they didn't have any homosexual experience before, their first sexual encounter is ALWAYS anal sex with assigned roles. 😲 I find that unbelievable.

Wouldn't the biggest cliché be that
there are actually seme and uke
instead of no roles?

how can there be no roles?

When both participants are equally being
submissive and dominative, instead of one
always taking it into the pooper, squealing
like a girl and the another one harrassing/abusing
and giving wiener semi-forcibly.

That's reversible roles, and there are few yaois like that. Why can't sex between guys and girls be like that? Reversible...but I guess that's why they turn gay. 😔

Pooper? Squealing like a girl? 🤣 So you've read some yaois out there. How nice.

but that is not what seme-uke means. seme and uke are not about being dominant or whatsoever. they are about who is top and who is bottom as far as i know.

so i assume you mean the cliche of feminine uke&masculine seme or submissive uke&dominant seme?

99.9 % of the pooper slaves are the submissive ones.
It is not "Come and put it into my pooper or suffer."
It is "You are gonna get this into your pooper now."

I misread than. Seme and uke are just terms meaning giver (seme) and receiver (uke) well that's what wiki says anyway.

Not sure if this is a cliche but the whole quick acceptance of being gay thing. I'd like to read a yaoi where the 'plot' revolves around the turmoils of being gay. Tche. I want something realistic.

@LunaMay
You could try Kyuuso wa Cheese no Yumewomiru and Fake Fur.

Saying "he probably hates me"...
And when the uke falls in love with the first guy that f**ks him.

Lol. The talent of the mangaka is relative. The mangaka very rarely creates a paired character that they believe to be ugly or unattractive. Even if the mangaka has an awful artistic style, the characters are still thought of as attractive.
