But, the cliché that I enjoy the most has to be... All gay men are hot. Yep, there aren't too many Seme's and Uke's in our manga that can't be considered attractive.
I do believe I've read at least one manga about an ugly uke... No wait, it was one of those yaoi novels. It was about an extremely obese man who gets stranded on an island with his co-worker. Yeah, that was it... nods to self But it was the only one of it's kind, if I recall correctly. I got a huge kick out of it just because it was so different. 🤣

Women are seen as nuisance in the relationship between men..
and also the LACK of female characterizations in yaoi/shounen-ai genres. 😐 😐 😐 😐

Hermit-chan, It's reasonable. Readers want to read about MEN, not women. If they want important women characters, they shouldn't read yaoi for that (or should read yuri/bishoujo/josei manga instead). That's not the purpose of yaoi's existence.

It can also depend on genre.
But guys are the main focus in yaoi. Same as women are in yuri.
Some more cliches (I don't remember if I have or have not mentioned those lol):

ooo the worst (now that ive read like a million yaois) is when the seme/uke or vice versa kisses the other when theyre "sleeping". THEY ARE ALWAYS AWAAAKE. lol i find it funny now when they do it an then start blushing and run away an then the person who was kissed slowly open their eyes an r like "wtf...." 😀

Another worst cliche: BAD ART! Seems that a lot of authors don't take drawing seriously and can get away with it as long as they stay in the yaoi genre. >:-(

I absolutely hate it when the seme says "You're just like a woman." during sex.
It really ruins the moment, imo.

Seriously who is stupied enought to actually believe that some ukes are leagal? Take Ayase from Okane ga nai as an exemple, who believes that he is over 18 years old? He looks more like a 12 year old boy....maybe even younger....or maybe even a young girl....
Why can't many mangakas just addmit that they like drawing shota-con?
It isn't as their readers are going to be traumatize for life if they find out that there favorite uke isn't just a 22 year old baby face....
I'm also tooooo used with the phrase ''Sorry I don't swing that way....'' everybody who says it turns gay....it actually makes me worried since I turned down a girl that liked me that wayO___O'' hope that real life doesn't works as manga

A yaoi cliche that hasn't been mentioned and I absolutely hate is that the seme reads/watches porn with big breasted women, then he meets the (girly and of course flat-chested, supposedly male) uke, f**ks him and the two fall in love, and all that kind of crap. What's the point of that? There's no need for such a plot. They should just skip that and turn it into a hentai or make the uke a big breasted woman instead. 🙁
