Well, in the end, it comes down to your computer, and your preferences on the "steps" taken(I'm pretty sure you can't view the archive by double clicking it without opening your archive software). eyes
and windows picture and fax viewer is unsightly! >_< plus u cant edit the images (like sometimes you rotate an image - you cant save those using windows pic and fax viewer)

you rotate yours? ._. i just read. works fine for me since i don't like to mess with my pics =P and it only takes 5 seconds to unzip the archives with winzip/winrar. and, windows picture viewer is unsightly? ._. you've lost me there.

EDIT: i don't double-click, i right-click-unzip eyes takes only 2 seconds more.

EDIT2: half-second actually, sorry was thinking about the unzip time.

Its unsightly - It's kinda ugly if you know what I mean. I was referring to those who use image/manga viewing softwares to open the archives for the double clicking thing btw.

=/ still don't get how it's 'ugly' compared to irfanview or something else. they show up as the same quality on both programs.

I don't understand why it's necessary to read the manga inside the zip or rar... Why don't you just extract it to read?

Because it's an extra step you don't need to do. If you plan on keeping the archive file, then your just going to take up space after it decompresses, and then your going to have to delete it afterwards. So technically it's two extra steps.

I am not going to pretend I know exactly how some softwares handle the archives files... But I know that almost all softwares will eventually have to decompress the file to read it. They will just do it automatically without asking for your opinion, and in a temporary folder. So basically, the saving up space argument is probably moot. (Depending on how the software handle his temp files... but I doubt many of them will bother optimizing that step)

Just used eManga. Bit of a pain, to start. The pages are large outside the screans boarders and the no used scroll is not good. It would be time consuming to load all that just to view one file. It did not even view pics.

Then maybe you should.. i dont know.... ZOOM OUT >_> Geez >_> i said you could do that

Anyways, So what? it doesnt view pics? Do you HONESTLY need a special program to view ONE picture? Thats just stupidity >_>

(Takes 4 seconds to load the program or however long)
(adds the picture to the program)
(views the picture)

OR you could

(View the picture)

Personally i go with #2 >_>

I used to extract files and read them in IrfanView, but later heard about CDisplay... I changed background color to black, turned off "Small Cursor", and have been using it this way for almost year. And sometimes I change color balance to make old scanlations look better.

Is there a way to set it to use the left and right like in Irfanview?

I use CDisplay and it's nice. But just recently, I am very annoying when using it to view the mangas that were scanned two pages per one file. For instance, High school girls, each file has two pages in it. It's not just hard to read. Moreover, when I use the clikwheel to scroll the pages, the pic will go down and left. Then, I'll have to scroll up again to read the right page. I know it sounds crazy. Any suggestion? I'd like the program that has 2-page scrolling feature so I can just read the left page and start reading next page from the top. Or CDisplay can be customized but I just don't know.

I use picwalker, a beta version that was never released. :/

I can go however deep into archives I want, I have continuous pages with a button for next if I want it. It is easy to change the short cut keys and I it keeps where I ended last time if it isn't deep into several archive structures.

I prefer volume zips with folders in them, but don't need to have them that way to read them.

I use Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. I don't see why you have to download a program to just view pictures. I also prefer to unzip my files since the computer will make temporary files if you don't.

I use ComicRack for comics (usually come at a higher resolution) and CDisplayEx for manga.

Usually configure it to place 2 pages at the time, using my widescreen monitor.
