Cdisplay is generally the program of choice. The only real complaint I have about it is the limited number of bookmarks you can set and the inability to delete unused ones. It also sometimes has problems with .png or .jpg files that are incorrectly named in the .zip or .rar but that's more the fault of the person who made the file rather than the program itself. The only other thing I can actually fault the program for is that when it's in double page mode the zoom function doesn't always work as it should (depending on the resolution of the source image).

I've tried CdisplayEX but found that it didn't really add anything I care about and had a more convoluted interface that was slower to work with. It also was poorly programed and doesn't consider the fact that you might not be using the default windows color scheme which causes issues for me (since my color scheme is almost an invert). Finally it costs more system resources to run and leaks data.

Windows Picture and Fax Viewers are worthless. No two page mode = not worth my time. I haven't bothered to check but I think they both don't work on .rar files.

I haven't tried ComicRack but I doubt it'll top CDisplay.

ComicRack tops CDisplay in all areas in my opinion. The only problem with it is that it is a bit memory hungry and it has alot more features that some people might find annoying. Personally I love it for it rendering speed and ability to handle double pages extremely well. For reading interface it kicks the shit out of CDisplay, it really has alot of options to change and it makes a big difference. Also for keeping a collection organized and for navigating it, it makes it really easy.

Windows picture veiwer is fine by me, I'm not going to waste time that I could spend reading manga by going to get some program I don't need. I've never had any problem with viewing manga on my computer so there's to reason for me to go out and get some program I'm never going to use.

I used to have your frame of mind. The problem is the unzipping part is not quick and takes space. I hated unzipping everything to read it. Once switching, it is nice to keep everything organized in zips. All my manga is compact and ready to read. I don't know about you but I have alot of things to store and a minimal amount of space on my drive for alot of mangas. Zips make it alot better, so I need a program to read them.

Unzip in the manga folder, open Irfanview, set images to display at original size in fullscreen mode, open the file and there we go 😛 . And I sometimes just click them directly in the archive.
I tried some special program and I really hated it. Why use another program just for manga? 😕

I've used various softwares like CDisplay, Irfanview, ComicRack, etc. but found many of them too complicated or awkward for my tastes.

In the end, for zipped archives it's either Gonvisor on Windows or Comix on Linux.
For unzipped manga, it's Irfanview.

ACDSee version 5.
Set zoom to fit width. Put whole volume on slideshow. Click the pgdn button.
Relax and repeat.

The only problem is it doesn't handle .rar files well. It's great not to have to unzip things though.

ACDSee 7

got so use to it, can't stand window viewer.

in acdsee it can open archives, so no need to unpack. works on .rar now.

not for 7zip though.

and when im viewing, i can "lock" the zoom, then scroll though the pages comfortably.

great program.

won't pay for it though. right rip off. 🤨

Woooohoo! Well, as for what programme I use, it's obviously IrfanView -- the one and only. However I have developed a method to make reading actually COMFORTABLE!

My wrists used to get sore all the time when I read manga for more than an hour at once (since they are held in the same position, not budging in inch). In order to get rid of that, I did this:

Mostly with Preview (Mac).

Before I had my Macbook Pro I used Mirage (Linux).
