He merely shot that to win the argument with Spander(or whoever). The WG no doubt sees Luffy as an enemy but it seems as though as long as they don't mess with Luffy's nakama, then he really won't care too much about what they do.

Though the whiteboard pirates don't seem to be in a good position, i think something important will happen, maybe shanks might turn up.
though whiteboard himself doesn't seem to be at full strength he isn't an idiot that will lead all his children to die a pointless death.
The fact that he waited till ace is about to be executed to turn up is proof enough that he has a tramp card somewhere after all he seems to know sengoku well enough to know that sengoku will be prepared for him.
The whitebeard pirates will not die there and if they are to die there they will definitely go out in a big style which will weaken the marines and the world will probably be in trouble from pirates who want to take over whitebeards territory.
To put it simply One piece will only get better.
Lets not forget about Blackbeard how will he escape from impel down

That's unlikely. Right now Shanks and his crew is battling with Kaidou, a Yonkou, in the New World.

mmm I personally believe that Luffy didn't just do it to win the argument, but you have a point with the nakama part.

Personally I think if any reinforcement will come for the pirates, it will be from the Revolutionary Army, since most of the Marine's strongest forces are currently on Marinford right now. If the Revolutionary Army can take the advantage from this and wipe them all out, it will be a huge blow to the World Government, which is exactly what the Revolutionary Army wants.
