Not that often, but it happens. I read them when I am at the library or in the bus/metro when im heading home from the library.
I dont usually go walking with manga in my hands, not enough content to last my walks, so I take a normal book. Still, not really all that ashamed of reading manga in public. I dont go flaunting it either though...

Why not? As long as my parents or baby brother aren't there, it doesn't matter since I probably won't ever meet the people giving me weird looks again. And if they know me, they know I'm strange anyway...

Mmm its a nay for me, for 2 reasons:
1- I like to read peacefully my manga in my room, at the end of a working day: so definitely NOT in public (also messy environment, other ppl speaking, cold/hot etc)
2- I'd have to bring with me my DESKTOP PC....XD

No, it's too embarressing. I still get embarressed going to buy manga. Every now and than I will be too excited and start to read a manga on the train, but only if I'm safetly tucked in a corner. I'm pretty self-concious.

I don't find it troublesome to read manga in public
but i do find it troublesome to read manga in places where people can recognize me.
personally, i'm very secretive about my friends and family finding out that i like to read mangas
but the random public people, such as unknown people in the bus and the library, won't cause me trouble by knowing that some random person likes manga (if they even know what that is)
now sometimes few friends of mine find out that i read manga, turning out that they read managas too, and tries to make a conversation about it.....but i'd like to avoid it
frankly speaking, liking manga is not a very good quality in asian perspective
I do feel uncomfortable reading manga in public ^^ I'd prefer read some pretty heavy novel in public
coz i don't want anyone borrow my books after i finished reading or disturb me while I'm reading it, or somewhere anyplace an interesting guy found me while reading a manga ^^

I don't mind. It's no one's business buy mine what I read. I'll even discuss it with anyone, as long as they don't go all "fangirl/boy" on me.
Although I might not read yaoi in public... 😲

I read manga on my ds lols. I don't own any physical copies but if i did i would still read them. The only bad part is when im reading something funny and i have to try and suppress my laugh and i end up doing a retarded giggle or massive grin 😀

I do read it in public, and people always feel the need to strike up a convo with me, asking what I'm reading because it's nothing they've ever seen before. When I show it to them they ask what it's about and ask if they can read it too.
Though sometimes I do give weird looks to people reading manga in public depending on how they're reading. If they're squeaking and squealing and freaking out... I don't like it.

Manga isn't so nerdy a pastime to be avoided in public. Unless you already look nerdy, then you're just confirming the stereotypes of passersby.
