Ambitious Girls in Real Life?

Every time I watch anime or read a manga, this question always pops up in my mind.

Do ambitious & independent thinking girls exist in real life?

For example, let's take Fate Stay Night. Saber is one of the most powerful girl in anime. The closest real person I could find to match her are legendary historical figures. Next, we take Rin. Rin is someone who will do what ever it takes to get a head in life. Not only that, she is extremely hard working and does whatever it takes to make it in life. If we add other anime girls like Index, Mikoto Misaka, every single girl in Negi's harem, Haruhi Suzumiya, Yuki Nagato, and yes, even Mikuru Asahina who is willing to enter an unknown time space with all the risks involve when dealing with an unknown entity who has the power to destroy time space.

Every time I move up a ladder in the the real world, the number of girls I find keep getting lower. For example, in high school. Most the girls took up "dead-end" jobs like casher or waitress or secretary while I fought to get an office job which placed me near the CEO of a major hospital. At college, most the girls try and take the easiest major out there and when they get jobs, they take the same "dead-end" ones in high school while most the guys went after internships in the field they were taking. The worst part of it is that a lot of them were more worried about what society wanted them to do with their lives vs what they wanted to do with their own lives. Almost everyone I met seemed more worried about getting a boyfriend and finding that "special someone" or what clothes society wants them to wear?

Yes, I met a few somewhat ambitious ones, but they were rare. I mean, extremely rare. By this I mean 5 out of the thousands of people I know. To be fair, on the guys side, ambitious ones still weren't as plentiful, but they weren't as rare. I met quite a few who are willing to do whatever it takes to succeed in their goals and yes, they have gone far.

I keep trying to find them but I feel like I'm in a hopeless quest.

(Then again, no one I know in real life watches anime so that might make difference)

Note: I'm from the USA so it might just be our culture.

Natural Question #1: Why would you want to find one "ambitious & independent thinking" anime-like girl? It should be a very cold person (those depicted in the animes you mentioned are ambiguous and flawed at character development: ambition shuts out others in favor of one's self-->no romance/no *normal *romance)

Maybe you need to take gender psychology one-oh-one-something...

You just answered your question...Even if they're rare to you they still exist...

I can say my mom and grandma are also such people...my grandma already owns and manages one of the biggest pharmacies in the city. And my mom, though a college dropout cause she married my dad, started out as a teacher but managed to start and build up her own store. And now also owns and manages a chain of stores selling used clothes.

An ex-friend of mine was a completely ambitious girl. A friend of mine is an pretty independent girl as well. But I think you're just over taking gender roles...

Have you ever met a feminist? 😐

My mother was ambitious. She had a government job and earned more than $80,000 a year when she was alive. She also had a lot of female friends with similar jobs.

I live in a Mid Size Town in the Southern US so it might just be my area. I'm just curious since I never really met an ambitious girl.

I've never met a female attorney. The ones I know who tried to become one didn't get accepted and just went into education/nursing. I've also met some girls who wanted to be doctors but their doing it to be a general practice and it's not really their own ambition but for/rebelling against their parents. None of them I know wants to discover the cure for cancer or figure out ways to open up lots of clinics to help others.

Most the girls I end up meeting are waiting for that "prince charming" to take them away as helpless brides and I guess you could say they are ambitious in that way.

I'm also kind of sad in a way. It looks like so many had their life peeked at high school while the rest have their life peek at college. The biggest saying I hear is "we're just normal people." The worst part about watching this is listening to the other girls. When one girls decides to drop out of computer science program, their friends completely support her in that decision. In a way they seem happy that she's leaving. Not one of them tells her to keep on fighting.

I feel you being depressed by their attitude, but think about it, its THEIR life: they cant possibly live with your own list of priorities or attitude. So dont feel so down and proactively search for someone more attuned to you: besides there's no real harm in being "just normal" and not wanting to struggle if there is no real necessity for. Keep it easy on the others and youll feel less stressed, hear my word (personal experience): wisdom is also accepting others weaknesses.

Of course they excist. I consider myself one.

I mean I moved out at 18 to another country, started to learn the language while working and trying to feed myself. This year I will apply to the biotechnology depart in a really good uni, like I planned. Nobody supports me and most off the time I learn just to make my dreams come true.

You just don`t meet them, cause they are not the usual girls at the club or some fest.

You're just describing a stereotype, it's probably just your community. There are thousands/millions of ambitious females out there, some take dead-end jobs because they don't have a choice.
It's their own life and they have the right to choose what they want to do with it.
Uhh...try to look harder...? They DO exist.
You don't see women with office jobs or female doctors or female attorneys?
You can find those in the U.S. too btw. -_-;;

Girls are going to law school at higher rates then their male counterparts. College too, and statistically girls do just as well in school as guys (I think even better on the average.)

When one girls decides to drop out of computer science program, their friends completely support her in that decision. In a way they seem happy that she's leaving. Not one of them tells her to keep on fighting.

'cause maybe she's just not cut out for it and her friends don't want to see her miserable? I wish some of the guys I know were actively encouraged to drop out 'cause they don't belong and create problems later when they need to apply all those skills they never learned. I know a lot of incredibly ambitious girls who've got it together enough that they stick with engineering/math/sci and do fine.

Dunno, I'm in New York and have spent a good chunk of my academic career in the honors circles, so I've met boat loads of ambitious girls doing incredible things, like starting foundations, winning national awards, working high paying jobs in high school, etc. The girls I know care more about their exams than some silly expectation to marry and have kids. Hell even the girls I know for whom marriage and kids are a goal still kill themselves to get grades good enough to get into solid masters programs so that they can get good jobs. One of them's currently a VP at a huge company.

Girls go for liberal arts school more. Guys go for Engineering and science school more. I have seen girls in engineering and science majors, though they are kind of nerdy. Girls are far more ambitious nowadays that equal rights for women has been established. Some of histories most famous scientists are women. Some famous women you may know, not limited to the field of science are: Marie Curie, Rosalind Franklin, Mary Shelley and condoleezza rice and much more

Anime and manga is like.....not real life most of the time. I mean think about it, if the anime represent real life, then EVERY Japanese student must be in some rich snob school. Well that's not accurate, but you get the point 🤣

Today's society requires ambition.....otherwise.....you'll end up in a place you don't want to be
