I like all Mythology but my favorite would have to be Native American (Including Aztec, Inca and Mayan). I think my favorite figure would be Raven from the Native American myths. A close second would be Anansi from some African myths.

My interest in mythology is how the tie togther across cultures. Compare and contrast between different mythological traditions. So, narrowing it down to one is probbly impossible...
I've been most exposed to Greek/Roman mythology (they're the same thing, different names) so that's usually what I find myself using as a ruler of sorts.

i really like myths from all over the world!! so why only one?? but if i have to choose ill choose Greek...cause it has such a great impact on our everyday life...if i see something it remonds me of greek myths for example the terms like narcissism and Achilles' heel...you know things like that...

I can't really say which one I like since when ever I hear the word mythology I am always very happy since I like ancient stuff. Where history is I am always there (well not all the time), but when we study history in school I always look forward to mythology since they are my favorite to study about.

Quote from Dr. Love

Polite bump.

All mythologies are interesting, to an extent. Since I live in Europe though, I am most acquainted with Greek, Roman and Norse mythology. Out of those three, I like the Greek one best. It was kind of like watching a cheesy soap opera... Only it's been handed down orally, instead of being broadcasted on TV.

I loved watching the TV series Hercules, as a kid. 🤣

(Egyptian mythology is nice, as well.)

I also studied Greek in high school for 4 years and I agree; it really is like some cheesy soap opera sometimes. Just figuring out the genealogies of the gods will keep you busy for quite some time 😛 .

What I like about Norse mythology is that there are also some female warrior deities. Last semester I wrote an essay on the role of horses in Norse mythology, and I just finished writing an acedemic essay on female stereotypes in Old English and Old Norse literature; so, I am now quite well aquainted with Norse mythology and Eddic poetry.
It's interesting to see how the Medea archetype also features in Eddic poetry 🙂 .

I liked the TV series too, and the Disney movie, however inaccurate they may be; but then again, the original Greek myth of Herakles isn't exactly suited for children, now is it 😛 .
Some half god who was born from an adulterous relationship and forced to serve as a slave because of Hera's meddling; later kills his wife and children in a rage caused by Hera, and is burned alive on a pyre while he is suffering from the Hydra's blood 'cause no one can touch him is not really something you can show to your 5-year old 😀 .

I studied a little bit of Greek mythology, and so, it's my favourite. I like how the stories are so diverse, and Homer's "The Odyessy" is great. I like all mythology though, especially Egyptian and Norse ...

oh i love this thread, at least time to talk about mythology 😀 . And as a genuine lover of mythology, my heart belongs to ancient greek 😀
To me, Greek Mythology is the absolute definition of EPIC (since actually this world was originally used to describe the lyrical poems that depict the legendary actions and heroes of the past, aka Illiad and Odyssey).
Also, i loved the variations of themes... The relationships between Gods and humans (cough sex cough), between Gods themselves, humans and nature. All of them with lots of intrigues, wars, brave heroes, countless kings and cities-states, human passions, Gods acting like humans. Even if you wanted you wouldn't have anything else to add!!! 😃 (and also themes that you don't meet -at least in such an analytical way-in many other cultures, such as cosmogony )
Moreover, i don't think that Greek Mythology has copied others, since it was born from the popular traditions that were passed (and were varied) through oral transmission from generation to generation. Now Roman Mythology copied Greek, since all Sicely and many other areas were actually Greek colonies. So no surprise 🙂
Norman Mythology is cool (yeah Vikings) 😀 , but it had a little bit too brutal sense for me...
The Egyptians had an intersting culture, but their mythology had as themes only Gods that were really distant to humans, only Pharaohs were the center of interest, since they were actually Gods... They had also mummies that really scare the hell out of me 😢
I really likeJapanese Mythology (one of the few reasons that i still read Naruto), haven't read Indian Mythology at all.
Native American was so-so (Incas, Mayas, Azteks were interesting, but nothing much) and Chinese Mythology is a blur thing in my mind, but i WILL ALWAYS LOVE MULAN, if it can be considered a part of mythology, but since it was a legend, i believe it was...
But Greek had all the cool guys and girls, so i'll stay with that 😀
p.s. I wrote too much, but please understand my enthusiasm 🙂

Not fair, had to pick Greek 'cause it's the one I know the most about. 🙁
Since third grade, you couldn't get anything on me when it came to Greek mythology, and I noticed I wasn't the only one who had an unusual love for it, I don't know why I'm so enthralled with it, maybe 'cause it didn't make sense or 'cause I liked those old world kind of things.

Lol, I can't even choose one. Of course I love Egyptian, Greek, & Roman because I was obsessed with them when I was little, but I also love Japanese mythology & many others from civilizations that no longer exist. But I voted Japanese because I figured everyone would choose Greek/Roman.

The one I know the most about is definitely Greek ... but I would love to know more about the other types as well ... mainly Japanese, Roman, Egyptian, and Norse 😃
