All mythologies have recurring themes and seem to bleed into one another. They traveled and were adopted to fit the culture.

Mmm... I don't think you can really say the Greeks copied from another culture. Although it comprises of some stories with origins from cultures such as the Babylonians, it really isn't similar enough. That's like saying that the novels we read are just copied from previous stories and novels.

What I meant when they took it from others was about how most of their goddesses (the major ones) were taken from other matriarchal cultures who worship a mother goddess. And what Shattered had already said:

Most moderately ancient civilizations have their own civilization. Back before the days of science, most things were explained through magic and deities. And passing down stories is so much easier than passing down math lectures.
